Zhen and Lilly met at Chinese School in America. (I went to Chinese school every Saturday because my white adoptive mom wanted to keep me connected with my culture)
Their moms met and got along well, Lilly’s mom was a Chinese immigrant, and they set up play dates with Zhen, Lilly and some other kids from Chinese School, but Lilly disliked Zhen. She thought it was weird her mom was white.
Eventually they ended up at the same highschool and their moms were still friends but eventually Lilly’s mom would compare Lilly’s accomplishments to Zhen’s.
Zhen’s mom was really proud of everything she did and talked her up even if she didn’t really out much effort or thought into it. So Lilly’s mom had a “Why can’t you be like her?” kind of deal which resulted in her bullying Zhen by spreading rumors around the school and tripping her and shit.
Eventually they grew up and Zhen is working at 5050 as a customer service manager. Lilly ends up working there because her mom kicked her out of the house and she panicked. She didn’t get the job at Whole Foods but she seduced her way into getting a job at 5050. (She seduced the Mr B the boss)
Lilly and Zhen don’t get along but sometimes after work they go to the gym to fight but respectively. Lilly’s a black belt and Zhens been jumped a couple of times at college so they teach each other.
