Pokémon Diamond & Pearl - Champion Cynthia [Revision]
Added 2024-01-29 18:00:08 +0000 UTCHello again! Thank you for your patience as I got this track out during the last few days of January. I won't lie, this month has been extremely hectic. I've been looking forward to this revision for a while; it may be one of my favorite Pokémon songs! Here's the breakdown:
0:00 - Immediately, things are different because I added Cynthia's intro theme to the beginning. It may be sacrilegious to have this part in any other instrumentation than piano, but I wanted this to lead into the proper battle theme as smoothly as possible. The piano still takes center stage however, with the supporting instruments accompanying it somewhat like a concerto.
0:45 - I'm pretty happy with the modulation here, it's fortunate that these two songs weren't too distant in key! My synths are a lot more flexible than they were several years ago, so I can finally have a really dramatic bend upwards here.
0:48 - This arrangement's taking a bit more of a Trance angle, the speed and composition just lends really well to these types of synths.
1:24 - I liked being able to make this section a bit quieter, it provides a bit of breathing room before the chaotic ending phases.
1:34 - I kept in the horn parts from my original arrangement, I think they fill in the background decently. It was difficult getting that bassline to cut through without drowning everything out.
2:00 - I really enjoyed keeping the ending quiet and building it up again to the loop point. I still wanted to keep it tense and chaotic though, so some string bends and glitchy fx were fun to include.
That about covers it this time, I apologize for the much shorter breakdown than usual. These next few weeks are going to be pretty busy! If you've been keeping up with my work, you may know that I have an original soundtrack to hammer out. As always, if you have any questions please feel free to reach out in the comments. Thank you as always for listening! <3
