HRR Patreon Newsletter #1: October!
Added 2019-10-11 06:31:46 +0000 UTCHello! We're thrilled to start doing our Patreon exclusive newsletter for you all and holy hell....this is the first one! We'll be releasing these on the first of each month moving forward (with some bonus newsletters to pop up now and again!). These newsletters will be received by all of our Patreon subscribers!
In this issue we wanted to do a few things:
- Share with you all an October Spotify playlist from each of us because we love music and thought that might be a fun thang to look forward to each month
- Toss in some other recs and plug some upcoming stuff including...
- OUR NEW TIERS! Coming next week.
- Check in with everyone in terms of what you'd like from this Newsletter!
SPOTIFY PLAYLISTS!
First let's get into the music. Here's Spotify playlists from each of the hosts! Apologies if you don't have Spotify but you should be able to look up anything that piques your interest!

My playlist is half Halloween/October appropriate songs and half songs that have just been occupying some headspace in the past week or two of travel! I really need everyone to enjoy 'Monster Rap' by Boris Pickett. It was his follow up to Monster Mash and it's the fucking best worst song I've ever heard. You'll listen, be disgusted and then immediately listen again. Please help make this song better known. Play it for a pet. Get a tattoo. Rap it at a funeral. Whatever it takes.
Track 1: Hadestown is the best musical I've seen! I just saw it for a second time yesterday and it rocked my world again. This is the song that sticks in my head like no other. Track 2: Little Shop is my favorite musical from when I was a kid and my mom used to play it for us in October! Track 3: Sucking & Fucking? Track 4: The best movie intro. Track 5: perfect fall content. Track 6: See above! Track 7: I'm so sorry. Track 8: I have a tv script I worked on for a bit and this was the intro song to the show if it ever got made. Track 9: gotta hear some Misfits in October. Track 10: One of my favorite songs of all time and also has one of my favorite lyrics "All the nightmares came today, and it looks as though they're here to stay" Track 11: title aside, one of the most beautiful songs I know. Track 12: This has been stuck in my head for a bit. I love the brass at play! Track 13: catchy. as. hell. Track 14: I don't know why but every fall this song just becomes my walking around song. Puts a smile on my face and a pep in my step! Track 15: Alex Cameron is so fucking weird but I'm here for it. He's got another song about eating ass. I'll post it another month. Track 16: I usually listen to Baroness on the way to go to a Haunted House! If anyone wants recs for Illinois area Haunted Houses let me KNOW! Track 17: this song makes me dance every time. Track 18: Just watched LEGO Movie 2 with Jemma and we sang this around the apt. for a week. Track 19: Tom Waits is the best. I usually put him in heavy rotation as it get's colder and I like listening to music that skews sad. Track 20: Had to bookend it with the Wait For It Reprise! LISTEN TO THIS FULL ALBUM!
For recommendations, it's October you sweet fuck babies! So I gotta focus on some horror. If you haven't watched John Carpenters 'The Thing' make that a priority. One of my favorite horror movies and it's all practical effects! Also check out 'Hereditary', 'It Follows', 'REC.' (the spanish version), 'The Witch' and 'Beetlejuice' (not a horror movie but my all time favorite so it's always the right time to watch).
If you're looking for something spooky to read this month check out The Silent Companions by Laura Purcell which LEGIT made me shudder and stop at one point to walk around my apartment and make sure nothing was there and the doors were locked. It's fantastic but it will effect your dreams/waking life! I just bought her newest (?) book The Corset and will let you know how it is!
October is also the best best time to watch 'Over The Garden Wall'! Watch it and then share with me your recipes for Potatoes and Molasses!
For Podcasts gotta give shout outs to 'Here's The Situation', 'You're The Man Now Dog: Patreon' and 'Paired'!
If you have a Switch pick Cuphead! I also just started Fire Emblem: Three Houses and I think that's going to be my life for a bit. If you must know, I joined Black Eagle. Gotta see what this Dorthea craze is about.
I head to Dusseldorf in a few hours and will try and post some pictures of me at a train station talking to 3 people who didn't get up and move after an announcement!

Hey Clue Crew babies! I decided to do something specific for the first playlist I'm sharing with you. Here are some songs I've listened to a lot on my way to record Hey Riddle Riddle. These are some of my all time favorite songs and they really center me! I hope you enjoy!
My number one recommendation for the month is the podcast True Crime Obsessed. I'm finally all caught up and it brings me so much joy. It's two musical theatre nerds reviewing true crime documentaries and it makes me laugh. Please listen so we can talk about it! Ok bye!
