Review Crew #33: Gravity Falls Episode 1!

This month we review one of Adal and Erin's favorites, the delightful and mystery filled animated show; Gravity Falls! We also pitch our own shows, discuss if reviews should be of bad content or good content and honestly just make up a bunch of shit! Enjoy!

Comments

ngl, Adal as Phoenix, Erin as all the female characters, and JPC as the male ones! I need to hear JPC's interpretation of Larry Butz πŸ˜‚

it's a stretch, but I'd love if you guys play through Ace Attorney, they're dumb as hell but I feel you be guys would make it even funnier with your jokes and banter πŸ’œ

there’s a part in the 14th episode where stan is given teeth that force him to always tell the truth and he tries to do his taxes but only writes β€œi have committed tax fraud” on the paper and it KILLS ME EVERY TIME

"why do you want to be a boss babe?" me: to win Erin Keif's love

The first episode is entirely fine but only hints at where the show (pretty quickly) starts to go in a strong way. Gravity Falls ends up being a lot smarter than (but just as fun-dumb as) it seems at first. The in-world puzzles are charming and solid, the characters properly grow, and the slow-burn arcs are worthwhile. It's also absolutely worth a watch (and then rewatch) for anyone who likes shows that hint at previous detail you didn't catch the first time, but was *definitely* present.

I know you said no more winners, but I do feel like Adal and Erin would really like Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts. Has a real Steven Universe feel. Very good.

You guys should 100% play the game The Looker. It's right up your alley

I avoided Gravity Falls for a long time because I knew I'd love it and can't dedicate the time to watching it. I've now seen the first ep and here I go down the rabbit hole!!

David

All I learned about Gravity Falls was that it was about gnomes and zombies. I think I'll skip the show, but the commentary was great.

For Jon Voight month I'd like to put forth the movie National Treasure. Nicolas Cage steals the Declaration of Independence because it has a treasure map on the back! It's fun!

Omg I kind of remembered puppy monkey baby, so I thought I’d go look on YouTube & it’s far more terrifying then I remember

β€œI can’t imagine a story that needs 20 seasons to be told” - JPC One Piece fans: *sweating*

Zach

They did the whole "boom mic visible in an animated movie" in monsters Inc. They had an "out-takes" part in the DVD menu. Maybe not specifically a visible boom mic bit They did lots of bits where the actors forgot their lines or props were in the wrong place, stuff like that. Very funny for the time
