From Adal:
Here’s what I was up to in August. Let me know if you have any recommendations for me!
TV:
Peacemaker season 2
Squid Games season 3
Back to the Frontier
Hard Knocks: Buffalo Bills
MOVIES:
Big Night - Ok whoa. Whoa whoa whoa. How did I miss this movie in life? Tooch and Shaloub acting together in a film about food? Upon one viewing this is already in my top 15 all-time movies. Ian Holm is peppering in some of the most comically genius moments I’ve ever seen. This from Bilbo Baggins?! There’s several frames from this I want to just hang up in my home. Please watch this if you haven’t seen it and please thank Arnie for bringing it into my life.
Weapons - Just outstanding. One of the most fun theater going experiences I’ve ever had. This will be the number one Halloween costume this year I think.
Challengers - Also outstanding. Arnie rec’d me some bangers. I don’t think I’ll miss anything this director puts out from now on.
Lilo & Stitch - I had never seen this and Jemma insisted we put it on. Way funnier than I would have guessed and a really sweet ending/message. It took me about an hour to realize my favorite voice in the movie was Kevin McDonald.
Billy Joel: And So It Goes
OTHER:
Hello From The Magic Tavern has upcoming live shows in Charlotte, NC (9/27) and Richmond, VA (9/28)! You can find all info and tickets HERE! I’ve never been to Richmond so please steer me in the right direction if you know of any great food/drink/etc.
I picked up a Switch 2 (thank you Paul!) but haven’t had time to play the new Donkey Kong. Very very excited for that. Let me know if you have any recs for indie games that are out/coming out that are worth a purchase!
I was lucky enough to catch the Oasis reunion at Soldier Field this past week which was pretty special. I am of the mind that Liam is the last true remaining rock star for better or worse.
It’s almost time to put up my 100 foot skeleton!!

From JPC:
Hey Riddiots -
Been hard at work producing Gumshoes and Dragons and I'm really appreciative of all the positive feedback. We've recorded 7 episodes so far which fit into a nice little opening arc. I'm excited for people to hear them and then for us to dive into our next set of episodes. The show is really fun to create and record. Anthony is such an excellent storyteller and it's really fascinating to see his process and read through his notes after the episodes. I'm also excited to get some more time editing and producing since I've done less of that since Billbuds went on hiatus.
Started watching Platonic season 2 on Apple TV. If you haven't seen the first season, it features the great Janet Varney and I highly recommend it. Hard to recommend a show when I'm halfway through it, but I'm having a good time with season 2 so far. Haven't really been playing anything new. A friend got me The Bazaar on steam and it's fine. Not really an auto-battler guy but it's a great Steamdeck game and I haven't had one of those in awhile.
I don't usually talk too much about my personal life in these newsletters and this month is no exception.
Wake me up when September ends!

2025-09-25 17:03:38 +0000 UTCAdal, if you have time while in Richmond you should 100% check out The Emerald Lounge. it's an incredibly themed tiki bar with really interesting (and strong!) drinks. if you have even more time, go to Shelf Life Books! they're a local bookstore that's been around for a while (used to be called Chop Suey) and besides having an incredible selection of new & used books and creating spaces for the community to celebrate and share stories, there are two bookstore cats!
