Creating Romantic Art: Drawing Inspiration from Eyes - 'Classmates' Process & File

Hey everyone,

Today, I'm sharing a sped-up process video of my latest illustration, "Classmates." Conceptually, I wanted to explore something unique, so I chose an eye as my subject. I split the eye into two characters: the sclera, representing protection, and the pupil, symbolizing guidance.

Initially, I imagined a warrior-like dynamic between the characters, but I opted for a more relatable scenario of two classmates on a rainy day. The sclera, blind and reliant on the pupil for guidance, reflects a moment of trust and connection.

Inspired by anime aesthetics, I kept the composition casual and relatable, especially for a female audience. Adapting traditional student outfits to the colors and values of the eye reference, I aimed for a recognizable yet unique look.

Color Tip!
When choosing colors for a romantic composition, opt for soft and warm hues like blush pink, gentle peach, soothing lavender, and delicate shades of red. These colors evoke feelings of love, passion, and intimacy, setting the perfect tone for a romantic scene. Consider using subtle gradients or pastel tones to create a dreamy and enchanting atmosphere that enhances the romantic mood of your artwork.

I simplified the execution technique while maintaining the abstract concepts, a direction I've been exploring recently. This allows me to focus more on ideas rather than intricate rendering, aligning with my current artistic goals.

If you have any questions, feel free to drop them in the comments or message me directly. Your support means a lot. Take care!
