Process Video - Painting Mimes Out Of Chromodoris Dianae

This particular process was different since I did not start with an animal or object reference as inspiration; instead, I used the 'Mime' theme as a first step. I've been linking and saving circus costume designs for a while, and mimes were one of my favorites based on shapes and black and white patterns. As you can see in the process, I started using a 'piano' reference to justify a second concept attached to the character's design, but I found it insufficient after a while since I could not find a smart way to relate both themes. Instead, I chose these little two creatures, Trapania naeva and Chromodoris dianae, especially the latter, which had a very similar pattern to a mime.
