Sad Process: Onions and Concept Development (Video & File)
Added 2024-07-26 16:00:14 +0000 UTCWhat I find interesting about this process is how I use three key aspects of the onion concept to develop a quick story with visual cues.
The first is the fact that onions make people cry. This universal truth makes the story very understandable. I just needed a common reason for why people cry and used the main character embodying this reason, in this case, the typical Don Juan trying to win back the love of a girl he hurt.
The second is that onions have layers, like Shrek, so for the costume, it was a perfect excuse to use layers on the female character and onion-like shapes in both the male silhouette and the female as well.
Last but not least, the diverse forms of onion presentations helped me use different shapes in the costume besides the layer idea, for instance, the onion rings.
