"Whittled" Feargus and Dale

So for my birthday, my best friend dBear, along with Tusker and Jake, got together, and gifted me this, and it hit me very hard in a beautiful way, and makes me want to cry when I see them.

It should be obvious, but they're sculpted (by the talented Boarhound athttp://ravenhallowsculpts.tumblr.com) to look like whittled wood, as seen in the sketch recently posted for the upcoming painting titled "With You".

In that sketch, you can see these two whittled figures in a jar, and as mentioned in the description for the sketch, it's an especially intimate and important part of the story. Not to say that the other paintings are not, but it means a lot to me.

It was gifted to me in the jar and all, along with a corn pipe that Feargus can be seen smoking in a few pics (as an adult).

It was funny, because the pipe was on the outside of the wrapped up jar, and my first comment how it was amusing to me, because I just so happen to have drawn Feargus with an almost identical pipe. And they laughed and said, "Well, imagine that."

And suddenly, I realized it wasn't a coincidence and my dear friends have simply been paying attention to this creation of mine that's very near and dear to me. And that alone made me happy and feel squishy.

Then I open and upwrap the jar with these two figures in it, and I was floored. One of the best gifts I've ever received in my entire life. And what's crazy, is that they're incredibly accurate to the sketch and what I imagined, and it's surreal to see something tangible that came from something I imagined. It's like it was stolen out of a dream.
