2018-03-28 13:16:36 +0000 UTC..as a story to audiences I mean. Obviously Dune isn't real world, but it would gain a whole new layer of complexity and it might actually be closer to the subconscious story Herbert wrote while borrowing from these cultures.

It's interesting you picked up Dune accents as the Dune accents, just the whole dessert/nomadic culture are essentially more African in origin than anything else really. I've thought for years the Fremen would just be more authentic/grounded cast as Black. Even the Atreides family, I think would resonate more as the sole black royal family in the world we live in today.
