That's not who Veidt's an opposite to, though; it's the Comedian.

2018-03-25 23:31:07 +0000 UTCDifficult to argue Avengers Assemble didn't elevate them. They went from being crap, silly, critically panned movies everyone was embarrassed about to being THE defining blockbuster movie of our time, that critics mostly love.

2018-03-25 23:24:51 +0000 UTCMovie didn't really work for me. Doesn't feel like they dug deep enough for a central theme and by attempting the non linear story telling it ended up feeling more like a montage. I like a movie that takes its time, and despite the length of Watchmen, it felt rushed, probably because it was aimless. Casting, especially for Laurie, was very weak sauce.

2018-03-25 22:07:25 +0000 UTCHi 19, One question about the ending of both the book and the movie. Why did Manhattan have to kill Roarshak? If Roarshak told the world Ozymandias was the culprit, wouldn’t nobody believe him because he’s an unreliable character/crazy person? Thanks for everything you do! Loved Watchmen Club!! - Nick
2018-03-25 21:33:48 +0000 UTCBelieve it or not I actually don’t hate this movie. As an adaptation it just passes, it misses/ misinterpretes most major thematic elements but it’s impressive how much of Watchmen they were able to cram into 3 hours. But talk about buying into your own myth! Zack Snyder is absolutely guilty of this and it shows in each of his movies; Dawn of the Dead- pretty good. 300- adequate. Watchmen- acceptable. Sucker Punch- annoying. Man of Steel- shitty. BvS- dumpster fire. Justice League- replaced by Joss Whedon.
2018-03-25 20:07:39 +0000 UTCDo you have any "intersession semester" recommended reading? I just finished Flex Mentallo (holy shit what a book), and immediately picked up The Incal right after. What else should I be looking into? Thanks for getting me into reading again, CBG. Also, Rorschach and Manhattan were left out in the cold by their ex lovers in Antarctica. Zack Snyder missed this entirely by having Dan there to mourn. :\ PS: Also who is Rorschach on the T-shirt? And is the Manhattan 19 cosplay benched?

2018-03-25 19:35:11 +0000 UTCThe BBC said Watchmen elevated the comics genre (I think it's an insular view, but in any case, it may be true for the anglosphere). By contrast, no one said Zach Snyder's film elevated anything. Is there a single comics book based movie you think that actually has done so (elevating comic book films)? If so, which and how? If not, do you think it is possible to translate a comic book into a film in a way that works both to respect the original material and as a film? I feel like there could have been a decent movie done with the material, but Snyder was not up to the task.

2018-03-25 19:17:26 +0000 UTCI feel like Snyder and Moore viewed Rorschach very differently. I don't think Moore hates Rorschach, but he paints him very unlikable and gross. Snyder seemed to find him very appealing though. Do you think it's critical for someone adapting a source material to be in step with the Creator's, or is the adapters perspective allowed?

2018-03-25 19:14:17 +0000 UTCHaving seen that scene on ComicBookGirl19's live Instagram, my answer to the question "Is it a good addition?" is the same "Nooooo" Nite Owl screams. This giant *Nooo* trope simply ruins the bleak mood of the otherwise great scene with a silly reaction shot. Let the viewers have their own reaction, don't impose one on them.
