Dune Club Session 5 EXTRA CREDIT

In an effort to get my thoughts together and finish writing my script for Session 5 of Dune Club, I explain my ideas about Paul's Awakening with the help of the Qabalistic Tree of Life.

You will receive 5 extra credit points for watching this video, haha.

This was wonderful! I hope you guys can do more quick vids like this :D

This sounds like the Enneagram. Its a fully dynamic system explaining all of the different patterns people go into on different levels of development. Or ego fixations / patterns of neurosis. Vices and Virtues. Just be careful when studying it. It can be easy to make a glass roof for yourself.

GURL! Dat rose duelist ring doe! I'm super jealous! XD

Hey CBG18! Great stuff! Please do a in analytic review of anime "Neon Genesis Evangelion" where the Qabalistic Tree of Life plays a huge part and is even shown in the intro. ^____^

Teach me everything!!

Also, poor Jessica... They thought she was the traitor, the Duke doesn't think about her while dying, her kid is growing and treating her like she is dumb, and, on top of that, Duncan doesn't bother apologizing before his own death... she seems really lonely to me: back to pg.112 "what had the Lady Jessica to sustain her in her time of trial?" Maybe only the B.G. way and its teachings...?

Hi CBG19! Hi guys! Just saw the Dune movie once more yesterday... despite all the flaws it may have I live for the sick, rotting, yet mystical and empowering atmosphere it conveys. If session 6 is happening, here's my question: pg.366 do you think that when Paul can't see the future (blind ground) is it because he has to make a decision? Later on he comments on relying too much on prescience... it's like, dude, we're the readers, you have to get some work done, the future is not just happening on its own, be proactive, you're not an on-looker despite you already know many alternative endings to your story! Maybe he is sensing meta-"stuff" ;)

This question may be more for Session 5, but I'm just catching up: What is the B.G.'s position on nature vs. nurture, and do you think it differs from Dune's/Herbert's? In light of Jessica's parentage, the B.G. genetics program goal was to double-down on Harkonnen genetics, which seemed weird since the Harkonnens seem like pretty awful people. On the other hand, Jessica is half-Harkonnen and awesome--perhaps because she had the Baron's innate intelligence, but wasn't raised by him to use it towards evil ends?

Since the clock is ticking and there isn't a post explicitly for it my session 6 question is this: Why is it that Thufir and the fremen waste so much time talking past each other over the wounded men? It's obvious what the meaning of "a water decision" is. You'd think someone as intelligent as these people could figure it out.

I'm starting to wonder if CBG19 has what it takes for Dune Club!

My question as well

Ok. For session 6 not sure if I have a question or a comment. I was noticing some more fractal stuff. (I thought it was interesting when you mentioned that the other time because fractals are a theme that's showed up in my own art - music - so I thought that was cool, but I digress). I was thinking about the relationship between destiny/fate/prophecy vs being the master of your own fate because the future is unwritten. (Although there's a bit of irony here since this is all written from the perspective of being a re-telling of events). Dr. Yueh was "fated" to destroy the Atreides but instead he twisted that fate to become an indirect weapon against the Harkonnen. Duke Leto was fated to die, either by the hands of the Harkonnen or Dr. Yueh so he chose the fate present by the later. Paul was "fated" to become the Kwisats Haderach but chose the path of the Muad'Dib. The first two examples I feel foreshadowed the book of the Muad'Dib thematically and structurally in the story telling. (Sorry, I just always tend to think about structure and composition, definitely more on the "figuring out" side than the "to be experienced" side πŸ€·πŸ½β€β™‚οΈπŸ˜¬)

No question post for session 6?
