1st Look: Advanced Mother!

"Mother!" brought things into focus for me. Hearing your review, it is quite well thought out. I really understand the backbone and musculature of the movie. The environmental appeal and the religious structure. I think those things give it a body in which to live. The thing which made me feel so comfortable in it was the amazing breath of life which streamed through the entire movie. Each moment and cut was a perfect scene. In this movie, every silence, every rest in between the notes, there is life. Though there is punctuation, it serves the purpose of rest, not a self-serving "masculine" peck. Beyond discomfort, there is the nakedness of change.

Some say that the audio book is even dopier.

Secret History of the World is so dope.

great movie. cant wait for the the blue ray so i can watch it again. still have no idea what the yellow stuff is but i have a good laugh thinking that its weed related (like CBD or something) since it seems to be so versatile like hemp. Its natural, it comes from mother earth and it has all kinds of uses. put that shit all over your walls girl lol. looking forward to watchment club. thanks for all the great videos.

Thank you for covering this film. I ended up seeing it alone in a mostly empty theater and it truly felt like a modern day initiatory experience much like an ancient mystery school. With the deities brought to life by actors in a darkened torch lite cave. Maybe that's why there was a lot of negative reaction, most people aren't prepared for an Ego death while they're eating popcorn. I also think that some of the biblical allegories confused people. "Was JLaw the Virgin Mary? Mary Magdalene? Gaia?" "Was Bardem God?" Things have to be very literal. But you're right they're the duality of the divine, which also represents the duality in us. "As above so below." Knowledge of something like Pistis Sophia would help many people understand this film. PS: Great selection of books there. The Secret History of the World really opened my eyes when it came out.

Excellent review! I saw it today and loved it!!! The great poet can't survive without the love of mother nature and also can't survive without the love of the people. It really spotlights the true disgust of humanity. Beautiful, intriguing film!! Ill be thinking about it for awhile.

Loved the movie and really enjoyed your analysis. I really liked the casting of Canadian actor Stephen McHattie as the zealot character with the shaved head and tattoos. He’s been in great stuff over the years and deserves more recognition. He played a radio host in Pontypool, a Canadian horror film in which a zombie virus is spread through the spoken word instead of bites. He was also the villain P.T Westmoreland in the final season of Orphan Black. Aronofsky has a good eye for casting.

It's quite reoccurring thing the giving and receiving in the world. But this means humans must make the first "move" of giving. (:

My brother and I thought that the yellow stuff symbolised life or love? as Jennifer Lawrence stopped drinking it when she felt she was being loved by her husband... I thought Kristen Wiig was organised religion or any other cult?
