Tarot Class 7: Minor Arcana Suit of Wands

The Suit of Wands, also known as Batons, Clubs, Rods, and Staves, is associated with the FIRE element. It represents the Creative World which deals with ACTION: your reproductive instinct, passion, sexuality, primal energy, will power, invention, and creation. How we employ our vital energy and imagination to find solutions in the world around us.

 

Ace – Insemination. Potential for Creative Energy. A new inspiration for growth. The green-light to follow your passion. Reversed indicates a lack of purpose and direction in life. Be wary of frustrating delays. Be patient and wait before taking an action.

II – Preparation. Turning inspiration into a goal, long-term planning, exploring new territory, taking a risk. Reversed indicates a need to focus on personal goals, reluctance to take on a new project, and inefficiency.  

III –Progress. Plans are in motion, steady expansion, heightened perspective. Reversed indicates playing it too safe, frustration with plans gone awry, or spreading yourself too thin.

IV – Celebration. Taking time to celebrate your wins, enjoying the fruits of labor, harmony, repose, settling down. Reversed can indicate self-sufficiency, or discord in relationships, and communication breakdowns.

V – Conflict. Coming up against opposition, diversity of opinion, brainstorming, testing/challenging ideas. Reversed indicates being at war with yourself, compulsively avoiding conflict, or over-compromising. 

VI – Confidence. Public recognition for a job well done, taking pride in success. Reversed indicates a private accomplishment, seeking validation, falling out of favor, arrogance, or not receiving proper recognition for your efforts.

VII – Competition. Power under siege, standing your ground, perseverance, dealing with trolls and haters. Reversed indicates feeling ready to give up, tired of other peoples bullshit, or letting go and moving on. 

VIII – Flow State. Going with the flow of the Universe, energized focus, plans quickly moving forward. Reversed indicates a need to slow down before continuing on, a delay in plans, feeling stagnant, or resisting change.

IX – Persistence. Final test before completion, protecting one’s boundaries, to face adversity and keep pushing. Reversed indicates all work and no play makes jack a dull boy, hanging on by a thread, or paranoid delusions.

X – Completion. The burden of responsibility that comes with maintaining success, the end in sight, learning to delegate. Reversed indicates being burned out, an unwillingness to share burden, micromanaging, or a need to purge.

  Page – An eagerness to get to work, ready to get out there and get started without a solid plan in place. Being energized by ideas. Grounding the creative spark. Reversed indicated over-eagerness and a need to re-evaluate the method execution, or a feeling of needing to do something but know knowing what.

Knight – Diving in head first to get shit done and manifest goals. Pioneering. Passionate enthusiasm. Adventurer into the unknown. Confident. Courageous. Cocaine energy. Reversed indicates taking on a personal project just for your own happiness. Feeling tremendous energy with no outlet. Spreading yourself too thin with too many goals to accomplish. Imminent burn-out. Impulsiveness. Impatience.

Queen – Social Butterfly. Self-Actualized. Clear understanding of one’s strengths and weaknesses. Authentic Expression. Networker. Self-Awareness. Determination. Natural Leader. Vital. Reversed indicates believing in oneself when everyone thinks you are wrong. A need to assert your personal power. Or a need to take a break from social life and turn inward. 

King – Big DICK Energy. Visionary Leader. Direct af. Opportunity to take Power. The pragmatist who inspires others to follow him and make his dream a reality. A Legacy built and maintained. Reversed indicates not being ready to take over a power position from a creative position. Not being able to properly communicate one’s vision. Being overly aggressive and/or ambitious. Setting unattainable goals.
