I’m very much in love with the necklace and earring I made out of that chunky strand of Garnets I picked up in Tucson recently.
Garnets and Pomegranate seeds look very similar. Persephone, the Godess of Spring and the Queen of Hell ate a Pomegranate seed during her stay in the Underworld which ensured her staying there for half the year, which is why we have Winter according to the Ancient Greeks.
This is why this stone is assigned to January, the month most like the underworld. It’s the depths of Winter when the festivals are over, everyone is tired and broke, the vegetation is barren, many animals are in hibernation, the days are short, and the nights their longest.
It’s interesting that January is home to Capricorn and Aquarius babies, one of the most hardworking and one of the most innovative zodiac signs. In the depths of Winter we need industrious people and real creative ones when times are tough and supplies/food are running low.
I’ll be announcing the winners of last weeks Photoshop contests later today. Thanks to everyone who participated.
