War Club Chapter 12 & 13 Qs

Comments

When I think of WarClub, sometimes what comes to mind is everybody just kicking back on like a grassy mound, under, like, a tree or whatever. And we’re all wearing togas, like the Greeks used to do, while we’re breaking down the human condition and behavior and the ways of the world, past, present, and future and discussing ways to cope and strategies that might make navigating this life just a little easier. That’s war club to me.

Alexander Young

Hi Danika - I'm wondering if you've picked up on someone else's ill-intentions before they were able to execute their maneuver against you? And/ Or conversely - have you been blindsided by someone you trusted?

In the opener for chapter 13 it says in regards to the enemy "Beware of projecting your own emotions and mental habits onto them; try to think as they think. By finding your opponents' psychological weaknesses, you can work to unhinge their minds." I notice that a lot of people have a hard time with empathy or looking at things from outside of their own perspective in general. Do you think there's anything you can do to help them not to think like that? Or is it just like... it's either gonna happen or it's not?

I found Alexander's strategy to diplomacy interesting. Like how he cared for the Purrssian people and even dressed like them for a time. How could this be applied today?

Ray Riddle

Allowing someone to win the battle so that you can win the war is very difficult, emotionally. How do you deal with it so that it does not take your energy and focus away as you soldier on toward your end goal?

Red Sonja's mate

2 questions today for 2 chapters. On grand strategy: that usually starts with some good victories to then have manageable losses. But, when is a good time to rethink the grand strategy? Early losses and false starts happen, but when to decide "this is a non-starter", or, following some early successes that aren't delivering anymore, to see "the wind has turned"? On intelligence: can you talk about paralysis by analysis, focusing so much on information gathering and interpretation that it halts decision making?
