I think I missed something in a chapter back or something because I don’t know what the golden path is? Did the book already tell us and I didn’t pick it up or is that being learned later on in the book?

Can you talk about the significance of each of the chapter headers and how they relate to the chapter afterwards. I’m having a hard time telling why they’re there

Hi! Two passages seem to hint that Alia could have realized the Golden Path. A God Empress would have been amazing. I would've liked more info on this. Why did she fail to do so? Is it only because she wasn't able to avoid abomination? Even so, she didn't share Paul's vision, so how could she knew that path? On a similar note, I wonder if it was ever possible for Ghanima to take Leto's part in the Golden Path. Also, I can't see now how the Golden Path will allow Ghanima and Leto to avoid abomination, as stated by Leto... Coming to the sparring of words Leto and Jessica, I didn't get the strategy implemented by Leto. How was continuously shocking and mocking Jessica functional to bring her to his side?

Not the same DNA. The majority of twins derive from different ovules being fertilized at the same time, resulting in normal siblings being born one right after the other. In the case of Ghanima and Leto, their biological sex speaks loudly about different genetic background ;)

Thanks for another great session. The whole possession concept reminds me of something I’ve always been fascinated in: Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID). Extreme childhood trauma fractures the psyche into personas of various ages, genders, personalities, etc. A treatment for this condition is “integration” in which the selves are recombined into one consciousness. This was all I could think about on pg. 140 when Leto says “Finally we will mix them all into ourselves. We will no longer be our original selves-but we will not be possessed.” What are your thoughts on this and do you think integration/Leto’s plan are examples of finding the middle path?

Why do the Bene Gesserit want a child from Leto and Ghanima. Since they are twins their DNA is the same, so they could have planned to control one of the twins for their breeding program?

Has Baron Harkonen taken full control of Alia? It seems like she may think she's still in control, but he could be twisting her thoughts that way to keep her subdued as he exerts more control over her.
