CoDC Session 8 Qs

Ooh, there's a cast interview uploaded as well, besides the Dune trailer.

Johan Jörtsö

Sure! I mean they didn’t talk a lot about you specifically but a shoutout is a shoutout and they discussed Jodorowsky’s Dune a bit, which they learned about from you ^^ https://youtu.be/2gadjuEW-uM

Johan Jörtsö

I didn’t already know. Link?

Hey Danika, you got namedropped (as comicbookgirl19) in the normies reaction video to dat new trailer. (You probably know already but semi big reaction channel)

Where do Namri's questions come from, and what gave Leto the clues on how to answer? And why would Gurney possibly allow Leto II to be killed by Namri? Does he not know Namri is a water stealer, or did Jessica intend to ally with the Water stealers in Jacurutu.

There's a lot of lessons and new beginnings in these chapters. It reminds me a little of The Fool followed by the Magician in the Tarot and how to begin a journey you enter/ leap into the unknown - embrace the chaos - then do a lot of LEARNING to begin a journey maybe onto the golden path? :P While it's clear these lessons are happening for Leto and Farad'n I'm curious - What do you think is Jessica's leap and lesson that is leading her to the golden path? Also do you think the golden path is the same thing for everyone? And one final observation - for lots of talk about focus on the present and NOW why is there so much exploration of the past and future for Leto and Faradn'n in their training?

Can't wait to hear your thoughts on the new Dune trailer. 🥺❤

I found that choice of song to be very poor

So many questions... One: Namri's asking questions to Leto, in a pass/death format (which I think, as someone who's held the title of professor, is a poor evaluation format), and complains Leto regurgitates but does not really understand. If he wanted non-regurgitation, meaningful answers, he should have asked better questions, don't you think? Second, this is the first novel where Herbert truly explores the effect of pre-born memories, but I don't find his interpretation of that convincing. Like Leto in this case seems to have an encyclopedic memory, in the sense that all the info is there and reachable, but it is not absorbed. If it were, Leto would have probably gone mad right away. There's some notion that the other past personalities are there, but it's a tiny sample of the father (sure, why not, most immediate, makes sense) and a few more. But beyond them, why remember the streets of London any better than any other memory or personality in thousands of years? From a law of large number sense, you'd figure he'd have quite a few ancestors who reached an old enough age of not giving a fuck and imparted *that wisdom* to him. So here's my question: why does Leto give a fuck? Are the past personalities a faceless mass or some hierarchy of more or less powerful personalities? Finally, two observations: I empathize with Ghanima when Irulan (an anagram of Urinal) calls her Ghani: having an hyphenated name myself, there's nothing more annoying than being called by the first half. And second, Ghanima, despite being preborn, still is a child. With thousands of memories, you'd figure she'd understand the grief of losing a sibling and the meaninglessness of vengeance. But no, temper tantrum about some arranged engagement to Farad'n. Any thoughts?

Yeah, I heard they are adapting an old book, we love it. Song was very appealing. 🎶and all you create, and all you destroy🎶

I am so sorry not a book question - do you think Warner Bros Legendary (who made 300, Watchmen, Jurassic World, Pacific Tim, etc) is the right studio for the Dune movie? What are you excited about? What do you fear?
