There is an entire movie about this fictional name and why it is used on some motion pictures like it was on this version of dune. When they originally showed dune on tv they edited for time and content so once content was removed they worked on time by adding in certain scenes that lynch took out and he did not want his name on this version so when this happens they always use this fictitious name Alan smithee. It’s an interesting show if you can find it not quite a movie but anyway that’s why certain tough scenes were taken out like the dr who says “ your skin love to me and put the pick in there Pete and turn it round real neat. Scenes which I love and yes even the baron spitting on lady jesica then he says “ what a luxury “ well enough of my jabering on peace and love
