Observation: Leto is simping over Hwi.... like haaaard

Question It seems like the tleilaxu is a huge problem and Leto is just sitting upon on them due to arrogance not strategy. There’s only so many times you can ignore a problem before it turns into foolishness. If he hasn’t seen them in the future doing something he needs, then why is he letting them get away with stuff? That the ghola program and some tleilaxu to make them and disband the brotherhood. Again, if there isn’t a reason in the future timelines then they’re useless. No one will make them martyr because they freak people out.

So, more lecherous incel Leto this session. Once again, with the first guild ship revelation that it's the wife of the guy with the credit who really did it, Herbert almost gets into some form of short-lived feminism but his very conservative separation of the sexes prevents him from actually being one. My question for you, as a non-binary who has always had a stake in both the masculine and the feminine, what are your thoughts on the rigorously separated sexes in Dune? Except for the Face Dancers who so far are portrayed as bad, androgyny isn't much of a thing. Except for poor incel Leto who claims to be all from memories of things he never did, but he is very much a bitter impotent male.

QUESTION: with the genetic memories, is it only all your parentals memories that you get, or do you also get things like your older siblings or uncles and cousins? cus I don’t think Leto has as many memories as he claims. Yes it goes back to prehistoric times but I could only imagine it would be the parents you get. And if thats true your really only getting 3 or 4 generations a century which isn’t really a lot of memories if you think about it and compare!

OBSERVATION 1. p.234: My number one favorite sick-burn from this whole section is "You dissect me with words when you would prefer sharper instruments. Hypocrisy offends me." "It amuses me to give you full value" is probably a close second. Really the whole conversation witht he Reverend Mothers is first rate. Sometimes I don't have a question because whole sections just stand on their own, they're so good. ERRATA FIXED 1. p.287 "Duncan, 'eat your wafer' Leto said." the 't' in Leto was missing in the old Berkley paperback.

Oberservation: Leto's life really sucks. Every time he observes anything, even something he created (like the museum fremen) he is just filled with contempt. I think the Fish Speakers, Idaho, and Moneo are the only things he has made for which his affection is stronger than his contempt. And when he describes to Hwi what will happen to him when he "dies" it really drives home how much he sacrificed for a species which he finds hard to love. Observation: Leto describes how he designed the fishspeakers so the trend of men domesticating women could now be reversed to a standard of women domesticating men. It actually reminded me of some of the thoughts of William Marston concerning willing submission to loving authority that helped inspire him to create Wonder woman and his view of the Amazons, which is appropriate I guess since probably everyone thinks of the Amazons at least once while reading this book. Question: Did you enjoy watching Leto put Luyseyal in her place as much as I did? He was vicious!
