A "Mentrek" is given motivation to overcome conditioning to betray an Emporor(ess) by threatening a loved one. Jodorosky wasn't taking any chances that people would forget that his abandoned film version of "Dune" was a big part of this story! I am glad for John that Animah decided she loved him, but I have to say I did not love the way she shot into jelousy as soon as the proto-queen called her Frigid. For her entire association with John, she was very supportive, and was probably his best friend (or at least ally) aside from Deepo. She only got mean with him when he was insufferable. I got the impression that however compassionate she may be, she did not feel any obligation to love John simply because he loved her. Her sudden turn around felt forced to me. Even though I did laugh at a Animahs reaction. Also, do we know where the word "inkal" came from?
2022-05-22 17:49:12 +0000 UTCSo last week you missed this observation in the stream: we found out that Solune was actually the son of John DiFool, but given to the Metabaron to raise. This has parallels in legends and mythology, where chosen one infants are given to usually more humble fathers to foster. However, here John DiFool is the more humble father, and Solune is given to a more formidable foster parent. But John DiFool fits the chosen one role better as well. For this entry, John DiFool is again led to lend his seed to the grander scheme of things. What are your thoughts on the lust and horniness of it? DiFool thinks he loves Animah but he is clearly more in lust, and his love seems driven by his adoration of a "perfect woman" rather than genuine connection that does not feel so mutual. What are your thoughts on Animah's feelings and desires? She does play the "frigid bitch" until she is called one then goes all jealous and worried about John.
