"The most dedicated of Monastery of Blood penitents are the Garden Tenders who live in closest proximity to the trees diseased by Bloodvine. By tending to the parasitic cores, they ensure that the vines continue to grow safely, being unable to spread to other plants, crops or people.
In order to approach safely, the Tenders become infected by Rot of their own volition and find no other side-effects other than a slight reduction in vitality. In the other hand, these monks develop a symbiotic relation with the infection coiled-up inside them, being awarded great combat capabilities in exchange for feeding it - as it strives to feed from enemies too.
No penitent has spent much time as a Garden Tender, though, as the monks use healing techniques to treat the infections from time to time and take turns in the garden. Some of them long to return to it, missing their parasitic partners.".
