AMA1: Mortze
Added 2019-01-17 15:48:01 +0000 UTCYou're asking questions. We're answering them. Most of them anyway.
Since I'm lazy I'll just copy/paste the questions.
This is fun to do. Keep asking more.
Dreams come up in your works. Do either of you have especially vivid dreams? Have either of you ever recorded them? Have either of you ever used what you dreamed as inspiration in your creative endeavors?
I don't think I have out-of-the-ordinary dreams, and they're mostly dumb or immediately forget after waking up. I don't think I ever used anything from a dream in the games or art.
Will we ever see a Redemption for Jessika sequel? Not an Elsa-Verse story, but a Jessika story? Of all the characters and all the games you guys gave us, that one really resonated with me. Her character design, story, and journey were perfect. On a side note, I can't listen to The Reckoning by Halestorm without picturing Jessika. Good choice on that one...
I'm not closing any story options, may that be with Jessika or any other character. We're just focusing on something else for now. I'm glad Jessika's character and story was that meaningful for you.
Mortze what country are you from?
Portugal. Please give us a visit! https://www.visitportugal.com/en
Do your games start with a story, image(s), or do you guys plan them out from the start, and allow the story and images to match what you came up with?
Story certainly comes before pics. I'm not a great planer so I think of a story plot, separated but unconnected events, make the models and settings and start writing from there. I usually write a scene and render it immediately after.
Mortze, I can't say enough about how much I appreciate and respect your talents! I'd like to hear more about your render creation process and tools. Please tell us about your preferences and choices for software, hardware, and favourite sources for 3d models, textures. How long does a typical scene take you, for the setup, and test renders, and final render? Do you ever build your own 3d models or other resources such as textures? How much do you use post-render image editing?
Thank you thebeej. I use DAZ Studio for rendering and Photoshop for editing. I run 2 computers, the secondary one for rendering purpose only. I do mount the scene on the main PC though, and do all the editing there too. That way I can keep working on something while a picture is rendered on the second computer.
DAZ Studio is a free software but it requires you to buy 3d assets to make something out of it. Much like free-to-play pay-to-win games. A great deal of Patreon income goes into buying 3d assets. There are no typical scenes. I can't answer that. I do impose time limits to myself for the sake of making a 1000 pics game in less than a year. I won't render more than 25 minutes a picture. That's why so many are grainy. For weeklies pictures there is no time limit. The 100th weeklie took me 4 days between mounting, rendering and editing.
One thing I need to buy is skin textures. Body shapes are just shortcuts and I always change them from the original product to match my needs. I don't have 3d modeling skills so I need to buy stuff and change it within DAZ. Nowadays I always edit the pictures in Photoshop. Just as with photography, the reality the camera captures may be nice but there's always room to edit it to add that special touch to turn it from nice into superb.
1. Your games have lots of supernatural elements in them. What led to this particular choice? 2. There is quite a distance and time zone difference between you which certainly poses an obstacle and complication during your work. Could you tell us a bit more about your communications arrangement? How often you talk, for how long, etc.? 3. What is the craziest idea for a game that you had? 4. Is there something you really wanted to do in one of your games but in the end it didnβt work out? 5. Your favourite food, band and movie?
1. For Pandora and DF I wanted to include subtle supernatural because supernatural have always been present in the books, comics, TV shows and movies I liked. I do want to make games without any supernatural in it too. Christine's game doesn't have any.
2. We communicate by email. It's not the best method but it's the one we got. The games progression isn't faster also because of that. Some emails get answered only hours after being sent. But being from different continents has its advantage too; we have an European and a North-American perspective.
3. For me it is Pandora. Confining a story and its crew to a small ship isn't easy.
4. Several things. I recall that there were ideas for Kean to experiment with other people but it wasn't coherent with their characters and I dropped it.
5. Lasagna. I don't have a favorite band now but for many many years it was Metallica. Hard to choose a favorite movie. Terminator 2, The Dark Knight, Alien, The Empire Strikes Back or Interview with the Vampire.
Can you tell us how did you came up with your names? How did you meet?
Mortze is the name of a character I made for Vampire The Dark Ages RPG. I choose as my artistic name. I met Tlaero at Shark's Lagoon forum when I read one of her posts saying she was looking for a new artist to make games.
Tiaero, I really love your stories, even when they donβt have sex scenes, but, as the main reason we are here is because we all love sex games, and as you asked for we to not hold back, here it goes: Tlaero, are the characters inspired in people you know? Do you see yourself in any of them? Is there a sex scene or situation that you wrote wishing to happen to you? If so, were you able to realize it or is it just a fantasy yet? Also would like to know from both of you about your favorite character, game and scene.
My favorite character in terms of story and personality would be either Chloe or Miranda and the dynamics between the two. My favorite game so far is Darkness Falls and my favorite scene is the one when Jessika recovers her joy for singing in her studio and Sarah sees it.
Lazy Turtle pretty much covered all the game related questions I had, so I guess I'll ask the more traditional Q&A questions: * Given the occupation of Elsa, what are some of your favourite books/book series? * Besides your own, do you have a favorite fictional universe? * Do you have any place on your bucket list that you'd like to visit? * Is a short repeating mute video pronounced "GIF" or "JIF"? * If you've seen friends, was Ross in the wrong when he slept with that woman while he and Rachel were on "a break"? * Have you've done your part in the fight against T-series, and subscribed to Pewdiepie? * Pineapple on pizza, yes or no? * Do you prefer nice boobs or a nice butt?
My favorite book/series so far have been Anne Rice's vampire early books, Tolkien's and Song of Ice and Fire series. My favorite fictional universes are Star Wars and Alien. I'd like to visit Istambul, New York and China. I pronounce it GIF. Absolutely not. Rachel was always in the wrong. You're either with someone or you're not. I don't follow Pewdiepie and have never seen his videos, despite knowing who he is. Pineapple, sometimes yes. I always look at boobs first, but perfect boobs with an ugly ass ruins it all, whereas tiny boobs with a great ass is still a win. So, I don't know really.
