Monthly Book Writing Posts

Hi folks,

Firstly - I've pivoted away and shelved the previous thing I was writing. I've reworked some scenes and ideas from it though. I'm now writing some kind of Absurdist Fantasy / Horror thing using some other ideas I had during the 'discovery phase'. ['Discovery Phase' being where you just sit down and spew stream of consciousness things into your word processor and see what comes out].

Secondly - I've decided I'm just gonna share monthly progress on this thing. Gives me the kick up the arse to write (a chapter a month which is VERY manageable haha). I can be a bit of a procrastinator at times; mainly due to imposter syndrome rather than laziness.

So initially you get two sections - I've attached screenshots of both the Prologue (which you've kinda already seen although it is slightly tweaked) and Chapter One. But it'll just be Chapter Two next month. And so on.

Again - this is very much First Draft so subject to change as the story develops. I may well end up completely restarting. Things may end up totally convoluted / utter nonsense. Writing really doesn't work the way a lot of people (myself included not so long ago) think it does. Sure; there are writers who will Outline the entire thing first and have a clear idea of every single beat. There are also 'Pantsers'. I am very much the latter. Albeit glancing at a 25-part Plot Structure Outline template every now and then just for a little bit of guidance considering I've never written a book before. [Pantser: People who write by the seat of their pants / Writing without a plan & discovering the story as you go - I know that sounds mental but for context: Stephen King is a pantser]

Feedback is still welcome though. Don't feel obliged to read any of it; it's just for those that are interested in either writing in general or just my personal writing journey (I dunno why that would be interesting lol). For anyone that's worried that I'm just giving this stuff away for free - Every single story has already been told. It's pure ego to think otherwise. People can steal your ideas but they can't steal your 'voice' which is the only thing that really matters to a writer.
