To this day the prom videotape episode is one of my favorites. I had such a genuine reaction to it and Phoebe's line about Rachel being Ross' lobster. It's exactly the kind of thing that gets to me, when you hit the perfect moment in a rom-com where it just crystalizes for one of the main characters how far the other person is willing to go and how right the other person is for them.

The Super Bowl episodes was a two parter because Friends had a one hour time slot after the Super Bowl. It was a big deal to have that time slot, which is why there were several huge guest stars in episodes 12 and 13 (Brooke Shields, Julia Roberts and Jean-Claude Van Damme). Fun fact: Julia Roberts and Matthew Perry were dating irl at this time. Chandler’s “Okay then, eat me, I’m done” is one of my favorite lines. 🤣

Ross and Rachel have been into each other the whole season and it was only halted by the list that Ross didnt actually create or decide to do himself (Chandler). That prom video was concrete evidence that Ross truly did love Rachel and wanted to make her happy and she decided to forgive him. You said before you hold grudges on people so maybe thats why you are surprised about her forgiving him

The list wasn't even his idea, and when he got pushed to do it, he stopped once he realized that Julie wasn't Rachel... so there was nothing he could write on the list that would make him not want to be with her. I think we all have friends or (ex) partners, whom we could write down a list of their cons, we just never do so because we keep it in our heads and these cons are not show stoppers either.. I think it would be a lie to say there is someone in your life, who you would be unable to write a single con about, nobody is perfect. It WOULD HAVE been much worse if Ross was the one with the idea to write that list, however.

2025-01-17 19:53:32 +0000 UTCI wasn't surprised at the kiss, because I could see they had feelings and only the hurt was in the way. I think because you don't ship them, you don't expect them to have the feelings and it's a bigger surprise when they do. About Ross's list, when I was younger I actually didn't understand why Rachel was upset to the extent she was. Only much much later in life I realised why she reacted the way she did. At this point, her forgiving it, I think it really depends. If writing the list was just a stupid thing he did, it's forgivable. But if the list represents something more deep about how he sees her, if he really feels her being a waitress is a minus, or her wanting to look good makes her full of herself, then they have a problem and shouldn't have moved forward. Only time will tell. For myself, I think he doesn't truly see it that way, so that's why I was happy they moved passed it.
