ahhh this was too good!!! end of an era 😢

EARLY ACCESS Friends 6 x 5 & 6

That is such a good take!! I honestly completely agree!! I think she’s an interesting and flawed character but she’s a good friend at the end of the day and like you said, she values different things like stuff that’s more sentimental 🥹🤍 I love her

IcedQuokka

Oooooo I see!! Yeessss getting married under the influence should def count as non consensual or at least dubious ahahah goddam it ross 😂

Courtney cox had her named changed in the credits for the first episode of the season. And if you go back and and see the opening credits you’ll see that the entire cast had the name Arquette added to their names as a practical joke Yeah I did not like that Rachel kept making digs at Chandler and Monica’s relationship. I’m protective of them ok! 🤣 but that was just mean. I agree that Rachel really isn’t all that selfish tbh That whole scene with the judge was too funny. Rachel was diabolical for that but Ross kind of deserved it tbh 😂 As others pointed out Ross and Rachel they kind of did talk about marriage before The triplets are so cute! 🥰 I know chandlers nervous about kids but he’s come a long way since being with Monica so he’s doing well. My rent here on long island NY was $2400 2 years ago when I was renting sooo if Chandler wanted to cover Joey for a few months he’d need like around quadruple what he was going to give Joey to cover 2 months 😬 I belive in the city where they live yeah it would be like $4000 a month so he’d need like $12,000 to cover 3 months which is insane I like the nice things Monica and Rachel said to each other 💖 Chandler is so awesome for trying so hard to give Joey money I love their bromance that moment they had was so sweet Well divorce can get expensive but doesn’t have to be it depends on so many factors like kids, living situation, finances if it’s amicable or not. It really depends on the couple and their circumstances.

Raquel

I think the best way the show has ever described Rachel is the episode where its revealed she exchanges gifts people buy but then its revealed she keeps a box full of small sentimental things like ticket stubs and egg shells and stuff. Or the episode where its revaled she kept Rosses shirt months after they broke up just for the memories. I don't think Rachel is selfish just that she comes off selfish which I know sounds weird but what I mean is she has a different idea of value. I think mostly due to her upbringing she doesn't put value in expense or big extravagent acts, because she grew up with being placated like that and I think she finds it a little soulless, but she does put value into memories and small acts. And its shown in her acts, such as writing n the bathroom mirror, or folding catalogue pages etc. but something like a sweater, she doesn't value. Which is also think why she has a tendancy to lose items she borrows or break stuff, which was revealed in other episodes too. She just doesn't put value in purchasable commodities because she's just always lived her life being able to afford a new one if its lost or whatever. She puts value in the memories they create such as the roller skates from this episode. And once I realized that, a lot of her actions clicked in my head.

Also on the annulment thing, yes you can get an annulment after you get married within a specific short time frame. After that time frame there needs to be a good reason for it to be an annulment and not a divorce. Usually its that the marriage was non-consensual like someone being forced to marry or a participant couldn't fully consent so it shouldn't count, such as being drunk which officially counts as "dubious consent". If Ross just got the annulment in the first place the day after, then it would have counted and they'd have got it, since he kept it a secret for so long, the time frame ran out and they needed a reason, hence drug user and mentally unstable as that would count towards being unable to fully consent. And then the Rachel fuck up comes from putting down those reasons when being drunk also counts as dubious consent, but then that reason is removed when its revealed she's lied on the form and Ross blurts out they were in a relationship so the judge won't believe them going forward.

Calum

For me its like, if Ross just got the annulment in the first place then he wouldn't have had 3 divorces! An annulment means the marriage isn't formally recognized.

Literally 😂😂

Oooo such a good comparison !! You’re so right

Sean Carroll

I think you can tell that Monica and Chandler are further along in their relationship at this point because they had serious discussions about getting married and then moving in together. Ross and Rachel, as you said, as they progressed ending up fighting more and never getting to the stage of planning their future out or seriously taking steps towards it. Monica and Chandler seem solid at this point.

mojo shivers

Yesss I completely forgot about that convo ahahaha!! I think that adds to the narrative of them not suiting each other in terms of marriage in my opinion lol 😅 like idk why Rachel said that when she was the one who freaked out all that time ago

IcedQuokka

Yessss so many big changes!!! At least it’s realistic in that sense 😅 Oooo I forgot about that!! Totally slipped my mind, it was such a a drama between them as well ahahaha

IcedQuokka

I just assumed the legal fees for divorce is what’s the expensive part right??

IcedQuokka

About the moving out episode - it was a really touching one. The only thing that bugged me were Rachel's comments about Chandler. They were a bit too harsh and also not accurate (as opposed to Monica's comments about Ross and Rachel that were spot on). I hope it's not how Rachel partially sees Monica and Chandler's relationship.

Monika

I believe one of the things Ross pointed about stupid stuff Rachel has done, was going to London to stop his wedding. And I always wonder, since when does Ross know that Rachel went specifically to stop his wedding. I thought as far as he was aware, she went there to be a friend, and only admitted her feelings when it was clear the marriage started terribly. Yeah, definitely feels like we've missed things there, like conversations characters would have about it for Ross to find out and also his initial reaction.

Monika

Ross and Rachel did talk about the future when they were dating. At least Ross did. The episode where they were watching Ben, Ross talked about the future, how he wanted to move out of the city, and the names of their kids. It freaked Rachel out because they hadn't been dating long. The narrative of their relationship is that your supposed to know that they are never really over each other. Its obviously lot of back and forth, but Monica saying in episode 6, mimicking Rachel, " I love Ross, I hate Ross, I love Ross, I hate Ross. The whole on again, off again is their relationship.

Wendy

It is wild to think about how the dynamics of the show shifted. In the first 4~5 seasons storylines were usually about Ross/Rachel, Rachel/Monica, Chandler/Joey and now it'll be Rachel/Phoebe, Chandler/Monica with Ross and Joey kind of filling in here and there. I think the only time I remember marriage being talked about with Ross and Rachel was an episode where Rachel freaked out because Ross was planning for their future and where they'd live and they had only been together a few months.

Chris

Courtney Cox got married to David Arquette during the s5 and s6 break Divorce is a lot cheaper if people don't fight about terms. Also if there's no mingled finances or children or shared property issues.
