A new week of hard work and a new devlog to keep people posted on what's going on!
Update 5.5's development
The development of Update 5.5 is going... well enough. I shouldn't be surprised anymore at this point that the amount of content (writing-wise) that it will feature ended up being bigger than expected. Even though it only covers the end of Edwin's day, there are actually a bunch of possible connecting branches.
Edwin's day will have three possible ways to resolve and, unlike some of the previous updates, all three of them are *quite* different, so it's been a lot of content to cover! The writing of all of this is going well though, with one of the three variants almost done, and then the other few variants should be a bit simpler to make. Still, that's a lot! I hope people will enjoy the variety of it. ;)
In the meantime, have some expression sheets as well! Those are a bit overdue, but Blain and I were making some small fixes on some of Boris' expressions last week and I wanted to wait to release these with the fixes already done. :) Enjoy them! Even though it's likely that all three of these characters might get an extra expression or two for update 5.5... :P
Other new things
Alongside the story content that you all knew was coming, I'm always trying to push the list of things I want to implement into new updates as I can! There are two big things I'd really like to ship with Update 5.5! Time is running low, though, so I'll get as much of it done as I can!
The first of these I already teased in Discord. This one is pretty much confirmed to be shipped with Update 5.5 as I think there's no better time for it! Which is... Demons Within's second CG!
Here's the initial preview of it for those that missed it in the Discord channel:

Blain is working hard to make this happen and, when it's done, I'll work hard to put it in-game ASAP! The CG is slowly developing and, early next week, I expect to have some more previews and information about it to give to the preview tiers, so keep a lookout for that!
The second new thing I'm trying to get done for Update 5.5 is the sprite viewer in the Memorium. Basically, it will allow everyone to see the images of our beloved characters pulled from Resnick's memories. Ideally, you'll be able to shift through their different expressions and different clothing (or lack of them)!
This, however, is a big technical challenge from a coding perspective due to the way the Memorium and the sprites of the game are made! I'm getting there, slowly but surely, but given that time is running out, I'm trying to give writing the rest of the content a priority! I'll be giving previews of this new feature as it gets done as well and should have a definitive answer of if it's coming in Update 5.5 or if it will have to wait until Update 6 soon enough!
Last question is... when?
Oof, this is a good one. Update 5 is scheduled to go public next weekend already, so that'll already make it a month! I know I promised Update 5.5 to come in around a month's time, and I think I can still deliver to be close to a month's time, but I don't think it'll be ready next week. There's still too much to do! I do think it won't be much farther than that, though. Hopefully I'll soon be able to start giving out beta version mentions and dates in the devlogs!
