I was so loving this film that I subscribed to Zee5 so I could see the original language (Teluga?) + English subs!! Friendship goals … I want to be able to communicate with my BFF with hand signals, too!!! Right now we can communicate with a few grunts so we are getting there. Love love love it. I haven’t seen too many Bollywood/Tollywood films … but I loved Jodhaa Akbar and enjoyed Dhoom 2 (Hrithrik Roshan … SIGH). Jodhaa Akbar is absolutely gorgeous and the romance is so sweet. Thanks for tuning me in on this movie! It was awesome!

SS Rajamouli has directed a film about a man who is murdered and reincarnated as a housefly in order to get his revenge. its called eega and its lots of fun. otherwise there are a lot of malayalam movies (mollywood lol) that sort of do a different type of film style you might enjoy, they are very experimental, its real big with the folks who love that subtlety stuff Alan mentioned. There is also a lot of hindi (bollywood) or tamil (kollywood - theres a lot of film industries and they're divided primarily by language) classics you could check out. The Kannada and Marathi film industry have been slowly on the rise lately as well.

Just based on this episode, from what I see if the movie, I feel like there's a lot of US movies that try to be like this, but fall very short. And I wonder if it's because of the clipped emotions, like somehow men showing tenderness is weak, feminine, or just straight up taboo. Cause I mean, from what I see of RRR...? Holy RRRrrrahwr! 😍🫠 Tenderness in men is DAMN sexxxy, and why US men are taught that it's not is a complete mystery to me.

She's my favorite character in the film and I think she is so underappreciated because she's the niece of Governor Scott, and, therefore, everyone just kind of assumes that she is bad; but I see her genuinely working to try and be better than the rest of her family. Is she a colonizer? Yes. Does she *want* to be one? I don't necessarily think so, and I think you can tell because of how she treats others--especially Malli. She's problematic, of course, don't get me wrong--her love story with Bheem follows Jamie and Aurelia's from "Love Actually" note for note, which is not necessarily a great thing--but I don't think she's nearly as awful as I've seen some people making her out to be.

This movie is silly and over the top but foreign films should get to be like this just like the west. The British occupation was a horrible dark time in Indian history and this film shows that but it also shows the strength of people with their culture. Bheems song during his beating made me cry.

I want to say an additional thanks because I watched the dubbed version (I know…) and in just the few clips you screen, I noticed a substantive difference in the quality of the dialogue. So to those of you who haven’t seen the movie, watched the subtitled version, which I will do tonight.
