DIRECTOR'S CUT: Ranking the Relationships in LOVE ACTUALLY

Is Love Actually actually about love? Or is it more about infatuation?

Licensed therapist Jonathan Decker and filmmaker Alan Seawright rank the relationships in Love, Actually to show which ones are the healthiest, and which ones seemed doomed for failure (or at least some pretty major problems to work through.)

Love Actually is in love with the idea of love, but there's a difference between love, lust, and infatuation -- it takes a lot more to make a lasting relationship work than the infatuation most of the relationships in this movie are based on. Among a cast of great actors, Emma Thompson's and Alan Rickman's performances are (unsurprisingly) phenomenal and moving, and give us a chance to learn how to rebuild a damaged relationship. But even with the several bad relationships that teach us what not to do, there are also some good romantic relationships, friendships, and family relationships we can learn from too. (Who doesn't love Liam Neeson and Thomas Brodie-Sangster's sweet story?)

For your information, Colin Firth speaks Italian which he learned when he started dating his now ex-wife. So that storyline in Love Actually was something Colin did in real life.

I quite a lot disagree with mark, peter and juliet though and feel like you misunderstood some parts of this story. The footage isn't sexual at all it's just her face and smile. As for wedding it seems quite a lot that it was really for his friend, he never intended to tell juliet. He tried pretty hard to hide it, he acted more coldly towards her to keep distance. He only told her after she already knew and nothing really hinted it is just sexual, it seems he hanged out with both of them and just pretended to not notice her to protect his friendship, they degfinitely hinted that. If she didn't find out on her own she would never know, this way she already knew so telling her didn't really hurt anything there was nothing about him wanting to have relationship with her (I think he might not even agree to that), only telling her she's great. Not saying it was great or superhealthy way to cope but he did a lot to protect his friendship and not complicate their life, he even left their (and his) life. She was the one who kissed him which I think is frankly worse since it won't really help him (but I think it wasn't meant as sexual kiss (but if it's the case it should be more clear)). She didn't seem to have feelings for him just pity and respect, he has feelings for her but he doesn't act on them. I think this story is supposed to show that unrequited love is still love even though nothing can ever come from it. I love that Alan Rickman's character has many scene s where he is really great person, great boss, funny, cares about his employees and their love life etc. He messed up but he isn't portrayed as bad man. As for natalie I also never understood why she is called chubby. She is really hot and there still lot of space above her before I'd feel like chubby is accurate. As for 2 they're not in adult film I think they speak about being doubles for famous actors.

We picked up a copy of Undercover Blues simply because it had Tucci and the review said he screams like a girl. But I think my favorite Tucci performance is in Shall We Dance. Tucci Latin dancing. It also had a great line for Susan Sarandon about being a witness for your spouse’s life.

He's a Tucci. Elevates everything he's in.

Bill Nighy first caught my attention in the movie About Time. He is amazing, and now I look for his performance in everything else he’s in. My favorite thing about that movie is the love story between father and son.
