DIRECTOR'S CUT: Psychology of a Hero: MAX ROCKATANSKY (Mad Max) with guest Caleb Blood

How do you move forward from trauma and not let it define you?

Licensed therapist Jonathan Decker and filmmaker Alan Seawright are joined by composer Caleb Blood to take a journey on the Fury Road for a look at the character of Max Rockatansky (Tom Hardy) and his journey facing PTSD. What a lovely day! They talk about Max's symptoms of PTSD, how he learns to build trust and connection, the ways he displays healthy masculinity, and how George Miller created an incredible film. There's advice for trauma recovery, some geeking out over the score and the action scenes, and some talk about how we can find healing in our own lives.

You mean what he makes in blood and used to mark the citadel? I think that was a regular map not a star map right? Because by the time he meets furiosa the arm with the tattoo was ripped off...

That star map Max draws towards FR's end means a lot more to us now!

Just dropping the comment here that I hope you guys do Furiosa too. You guys are gonna love it!! Also - Max's PTSD flashbacks get less and less as the story progresses. The flashback of the little girl appears basically to save his life (when the arrow goes through his hand) as he makes connections and redeems what he saw as the sin of failure to protect.
