It is my second least favorite blocking, just a smidge behind having one actor turn away from their scene partner to deliver emotional lines. Neither blocking tropes have anything to do with reality and instantly take me out of my suspension of disbelief.

Anakin is there trapped without lightsaber (and he has to hide because he was there for padme) and he is basically John maclaening it against cad bane and his crew :D I have some issues with prequels especially with anakin in revenge of the sith, but palpatine is perfect and he is never as great after his disfiguration, because the manipulation becomes a bit too cheesy and villainess becomes a bit too moustache twirling (except short hologram moment in rebels when he is masked as old kind grandpa palpatine from prequels). I wouldn't say jedi don't trust anakin they just give him advice he doesn't want to hear so he seeks out palpatine who tells him everything he wants to hear. I mean windu is special case but in attack of the clones and clone wars windu trusts anakin, in aotc even more than obi-wan, jedi feel like anakin is ready for his own mission while obi-wan knows he's too reckless and arrogant. Windu only stopped trusting him at the end of clone wars most likely because anakin was too close to palpatine and became way too ruthless during end of war. Briliance of palpatine's plan is that he manipulated jedi into situation where they had only one path left and it was still shitty one. They had to join war even though jedi shouldn't be generals and windu's only way was to kill palpatine even though it was very dark path for a jedi. Palpatine claims jedi seek power but they only became generals in war because this was only way to save republic and he manipulated them into it. Jedi really avoided taking power because they saw the danger in it, but also didn't give them other way to defeat him, because they couldn't be part of politics and defeat him democraticaly. I'd disagree with attachments here because there is more of a mystical element of that in star wars. Even with healthy attachment you fear of loosing someone and if you're force sensitive, dark side tempts you and offers you power to save them and if you take that power it will corrupt you (quite like one ring) and twist you into something else. Luke nearly falls to dark side because vader threatens his sister. It's not about jedi not having emotion and not loving people, their power is fueled by love and care. But jedi still have too keep attachement from being source of fear. Obi-wan is great at that, he loves satine but even when maul kills her he doesn't fall to dark side, doesn't let his anger consume him he still is able to think and to do his job. Jedi mission is incredibly hard and it's based on self sacrifice but that's how it has to be for jedi to remain in light. It based a lot on eastern philosophy imho. Rejecting possesivness, accepting loss without being consumed by fear and anger.

And then he does *exactly* the same thing to Palpatine when he's at his weakest, when he's hit rock bottom. Therapists are Sith Lords.
