Alan's 1st Movie! Starring Jono! 29 Day 2 (2006)

Back in 2005, Jono made a parody of the hit TV show '24', and very cleverly (and because it was 29 minutes long) he called it '29'.

He also moved into an apartment with a very tall, movie-obsessed roommate named Alan. They bonded over Serenity and Firefly (and pizza)

So when Jono's new roommate approached with an idea for a sequel to the mega-blockbuster, '29', he very gracefully handed the reins to Alan to direct it (after they co-wrote the script together.)

And the rest is history! Alan became a film/TV/commercial director, and won 2 Emmys. Jono became a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, launched his own practice, and became quite successful. Then they created a YouTube show that some people watched some times. Whatever.

The important thing is, and always was: 29 Day 2.

The movie that launched an empire.

It... isn't good. (according to Alan, who is me. Hi everyone.)

For some reason, I expected it to feel like a "homemade movie with the bros" but there was very little actual cringe. Alan, it's like your a real filmmaker ;)

I really enjoyed this and especially appreciated the disclaimer in the beginning. It’s cool and validating getting to see where you guys started out and where you ended up now. Makes me feel a lot better about my first short film on youtube (i think it’s cringe but doesnt everyone think that about themselves at some point 😂)

It's it me or is it weird to hear Alan's voice coming from young Alan? Lol

Okay so for any other idiots. Click “YouTube” on this page under the video and it will take you to the usual page when you can like. Hit that like button people. Feed the algorithm. Their kids need shoes yo.

I may be an idiot, it wouldn’t be my first rodeo, but I can’t like it from the link and I’ve tried finding it to like it, but I can’t. 😬

Sorry got sidetracked. Watched the first one, but had to go back to rl and paint on my kitchen cabinets that will never be done. Loved the music in the first one Ngl. That soundtrack slapped. I thought it was a better soundtrack than the second one, but the sound mixing on the second one was great and the shots were phenomenal. I’m no expert at all. I’ve done editing, (used to be a broadcast producer, NOT the same thing ik lol) sometimes you gotta not over think it. Second one was great as well as the first imo. So stop saying it’s not awesome. It is. But as a 50 year old woman, i got real questions. I gotta know, could you still pull it off? (Jono) (all the physical stuff) I know I can’t. I did a movie for a friend like 20 years ago and there is no way I could do what I did then lol. But damn was it fun. 🤣I think you both did great. I applaud you both putting yourselves out there. I would not anymore 😂.

That was hysterical. Can't believe how much young Alan looks like Paul Bettany and what a great Elijah Wood impression Jono does. Question is, where can we find 29?

Kathy Wood

Omg, you guys look like babies! Seriously though, I love how they take accountablilty for wrongs of this movie. (Jono's accountability kink is showing. Lmao) A lot of people WOULD try and ignore those jokes that were in bad taste or try and defend themselves by saying something like, "It was 2006! Cut me some slack!" To address that from the very beginning and apologize for it rather than sweeping it under the rug is amazing! It probably doesn't mean much coming from a stranger on the internet, but I'm proud of you guys!

The memories! - Jono. I can't believe we used to pull off stunts like that.

AAAAH That was so much fun!! What an incredible production. I loved the action and fight scenes, holy crap they were so good! Great work. I am glad you chose to still show it. You learned things from it and it's ok. I also hope no one got really hurt with these crazy fights and jumping off a second floor?!?! Wow! Anyways, thanks for sharing. I had a lot of fun watching it.

Marie-Soleil Cha

That was brilliant. If that was the first movie I ever made I’d be sharing it with my friends and their friends and my children and their children and their children’s children.

Thank you! That was great! The music is perfect 😍 On to day 2!

Is part 1 available? If it’s a sequel, I wanna be up to date on the lore. <3

‘It isn’t good.’ Nobody ever looks at a foundation and calls it beautiful and yet every building is built on one and they are necessary for what is to come. And every creative will always look back at their early works and cringe at something they did badly then they could do better now. I bet you were proud as hell of it when you made it. I’m going to grab some popcorn and enjoy this for what it is and MAYBE if I ask nicely or suggest subtly one day this will get a commentary or even a riff track?
