Update for Studio Executives - March 2024

Hey Execs,

Just dropping you a status update on the project.

We’ve read through all the submissions, and I’ve gotta say, there was a lot of good stuff in there! To get a bit personal, this idea (the Studio) is a dream come true for me, but I was really stressed out until last week when submissions closed. Here’s why: We had to make a short film this year, but I didn’t know that we were going to have any good ideas. And the (stupid, unrealistic) thought that I’d have to put in the massive amount of work even a short film takes, without a good idea, was actually causing me to lose sleep.

I’ve been sleeping like a baby for the last week, though! We got some great ideas, full stop.  We also got a lot of submissions that were interesting and will lead us down paths that I’m really excited about! The weird thing is: I knew this would happen, but some part of me, emotionally, didn’t believe it? So I was stressed. No more! I’m incredibly excited about all the ideas we’re working on, and we’re not even going to pitch all of them! We have too many good ideas to work with!

And now for a schedule update. We had hoped to present to the Supervillains for feedback next week. But we are shooting new episodes next week (yay!) which means I won’t have time to work on the pitches enough (boo!). And the week after that, Megan and I are taking our kids to Texas for spring break to visit Megan’s sister, and to see three new National Parks (we LOVE hiking, the outdoors, and natl parks - maybe the biggest reason we live in Utah instead of Los Angeles).

So it seems likely that we’ll be presenting to Supervillains after we get back. Then 7-10 days after that, we’ll have our full pitch video ready, and post it for the entire studio to decide what you are going to greenlight for this year. It’ll be a poll.

My hope is that it’s a really hard decision because each of the projects is so compelling! I’m really excited about the ideas we’ve come up with, and super-stoked to get them in front of you all!

Things are only going to accelerate from here. Updates are going to come faster as we start writing, casting, crewing up, and then it’ll be a madhouse! This is going to be a fun ride! I’m already having a ball!
