Anastasia every time. I love the OG movie…Yul Brynner-sigh. My kids and I love the animated version. I’ve never considered Anastasia in the light of a hero, your comments will be very interesting. I hope this is the one chosen.

The amount that the animated movie drew off of that one is amazing. (Can we say WOWZA to her dress IRL?!) Also, ditto to the Yul Brynner comment 😉

But the 1956 version with Ingrid Bergman, Yul Brynner (THE sexiest bald man EVER), and Helen Hayes is powerhouse. The scene with a Hayes and Bergman where Hayes accepts her as Anya is fantastic. She basically says she will love her despite the uncertainty. Wow. And what is it that Alan says … put two actors together who can act … and there’s your special effect!
