Filmmaking Deep Dive: The Writing Process

Comments

She used to be English lit teacher. Apparently co writting is something that Alan and Megan have done from the beginning of their relationship.

So this has perhaps come up in some other portion of CT’s plethora of content but in case it hasn’t … what is Megan’s background? Does she have film/theater/business/management training or has she learned mostly from being married to Alan for so long or being naturally gifted in certain things or some combo of all of those things? She’s so fantastic in everything and such a big help (along with all the other editors/producers/bts folks) and I’m just curious to learn a little bit more of her after seeing her so involved in this process. 💕🫶🏻💚

Well I guess I should stock up on tissues…

😍🤩😍🤩 MOORRRRRE 😍🤩😍😍🤩 I have so much I could say! But mostly that^^^ was me all through the vid. Love love love getting to see the filmmaking stuff. Can’t get enough, whether this or in general. And getting to hear it through Alan is just spectacular. 🤩 He just knows what the fug he’s talking about 🤷🏻‍♀️ And it’s mesmerizing getting to watch the cogs spin. Not sure how else to put it. Loved getting to hear Megan so much more than we usually get to. Holy crap what a brain. 🤯And a sensibility. And the wits to communicate it all! (which I’m not great at. So, to me, it’s such a marvel) Getting to see the ideas bouncing around and y’all shaping it in your own ways was so great to get to see. It’s the kind of convos I wish I were in more. I wanna at least be a fly on the wall, and y’all let me! :D (This made me infinitely sadder that I missed the read through though 😫 I’ve missed most all of the super villain stuff, unfortunately. But I’m no less excited. And definitely no less impressed 🤩😍🙌🏻)

Of course! Also, I loved the feedback from Jess Parks! Her "one step away" comment hit the nail on the head, and I loved that she called you out for that. I wasn't sure if that's what you were aiming for or not with the movie, but I think it's great to explore that area here.

Are you kidding me? I am so proud to be a Supervillian and helping in some small way to make this project happen! It is a but a scintilla of payback for the Hours of entertainment not to mention Life Lessons I get from your show! Thank You, Alan and Crew! ❤

The most important lesson I ever learned being a writer is that the only way you’ll learn is to just write. You can take all the classes, tutorials, and advice in the world, but it won’t matter unless you’re actually writing. It is the thing that makes writing so scary, because you HAVE to learn it on your own. I wish luck upon every blossoming writer and artist to find their path.❤️

We were able to submit story ideas for the short film. Then Alan, Jono and Megan picked a few and we voted between the tree that they choose and Alan and Jono made pitches for.

I think it's totally fine to cry over your own writing. I have cried over my own writing before and to me it always meant that I finally found words to something that has been in my head for a long time needing to get out.

It's based on a true story from another Supervilain, TrashPandaKitty 😊.

I loved the video but I am just a little confused where the basic story idea came from? Aside from that very much looking forward for other deep dives on this or other subjects :)

Thanks Saucy! Glad it’s still feeling like a worthwhile investment!

Don't be embarrassed for crying over your own writing. It just means you are doing something right and are invested. I once wrote something I cried over for a whole week every time I thought about it. Thank you for this look behind the scenes <3

This was so great! It was shocking to see some of the comments myself and other Supervillains made in this video 🤣. It's been an absolute pleasure seeing the process of Ashes to Ashes, and I legitimately cannot wait to see how the final script came out. The best writing comes when you're able to reach deep down within yourself. From your tears, I'm guessing you got there, Alan. Cannot wait to cry with you. I, too, will make a marketing plug to encourage others to join us in the realm of villainy and the future changes that are being made. The view is pretty damn good from here 😉.
