I should have been more specific lol. I was trying to brief because I’ve met me. Lol. I do not like this movie. At all. It’s too long and too drawn out. The book was under 230 pages. So that’s part of it. I don’t like that it portrays FG as a low-intelligence person who only ever does exactly what he is told. And for that he’s constantly rewarded. Jenny, on the other hand actively fights against the system. She’s portrayed as very independent, goes against the grain, and ends up with AIDS and dies. What exactly is one to take from that? To be clear, I don’t think she’s a villain, or even a horrible person. I think she’s just written in such a way as to show she’s damaged, goes against the grain, and then dies because of it. They make all of her choices the wrong ones. While he makes no choices and succeeds at every turn. The whole movie rubs me the wrong way.

2024-08-25 16:25:43 +0000 UTClol so I don't come across as too harsh. I didn't dislike her, I just feel like she did use him throughout the movie. She was a good person, who was going through a lot and I do believe that is why she constantly pushed Forest away. She felt she didn't deserve him and if there's truth in that, she was sorta right. Her life wasn't about healing the past, it was about burying it and not dragging other good people down with her.

The only time I feel like she used him properly was when she gave him her kid, who I still don't believe for a second was his at all but he was probably the best choice for that child to be left with, because the biological father was probably an abusive person.

2024-08-25 16:15:57 +0000 UTCGalaxy Quest! Heck ya! I've always loved that movie. I actually only got into Star Trek this year, but that got me rewatching Galxy Quest again. Just did that last week, watched the GQ documentary, and did the GQ missions on the Trek mobile game. So, what I'm saying is: I'm so ready for a Galaxy Quest episode! 😂 I love the development of Alan Rickman's character and how well they set you up for the time when he finally says and really *means it* for the first time in his life. Epic, shockingly moving moment. "By Grabthar's Hammer, by the Suns of Warvan, you shall be avenged." 🖖

Between the real life -meta of the actors having different ways of dealing with the fame and fanbase to the the dangers of a whole society basing their culture on the literal and implied images and messages in something they see, to the detriment of their original society. They even morph themselves to use tools that were not based on their actual living bodies. There are good things to pull from some of these shows, but to turn yourself into them is another. And also the types of relationships and friendships in there!
