How I Deal With the Burnout (after the show)

Hey Patrons!

I originally was going to make this one of my classic gig vlogs for our LPR show the other week. However, I'm getting to the point where I always want to make sure the rehearsal is filmed so I can do that thing where I cut back and forth between the gig and the rehearsal, which makes for a very satisfying edit, I think.

That's really hard to get right, unfortunately. I did record rehearsal, but the camera's died 15 minutes into both rehearsals, and the audio wasn't great. Ideally every gig vlog will be the bit awards gig vlog, but tech issues sometimes get in the way.

So instead I edited in a little essay on what my mom calls "re-entry" - the feelings of depletion that come after a big performance. It's like burnout but not really burnout and I still feel them. It's rough, no matter how well the performance goes I'll always feel it, and thought I'd share that instead.

Love,

Adam

Post performance depression. It's a thing.

This is a brilliant pivot, Adam. I read your other comment on the video itself about not being sure you got the tone right. But I'm glad you made the video anyways. And honestly? I found the tone quite original and uplifting. So maybe it needed to be what it needed to be. Proud to be a patron.
