Copyright video essay

Hey all,

This is a draft of an upcoming video essay that I have spent almost a month on - it took a huge amount of research, scripting and rewriting to get it to a place where I want to say what I want to say. Several reshoots too - the first couple times I shot the video I didn’t think I said everything I needed to - and so the whole thing has a real patchwork fee. I’m still not “done” with it, but I think it’s in a place to at least share with you all.

It honestly took a lot of back and forth to figure out exactly how I wanted to structure it. It really was 3 or 4 mini essays in one, but took a long time to cram together into a coherent narrative. Hopefully you dig it.

I’m honestly really proud of it, since my Celine Dion modulation essay I haven’t felt like I had much creative juice on YouTube, and this one feels like a bit of a return to form.

I still need to thumbail and title it, so if anybody has any ideas on that front, pitch them!

Thanks all!

Adam

This is outstanding. I think the suggestion is worth exploring. Some would argue that we are doing a version of it already through the bogus addition of interpolation/co-authorship credit. There is a risk that attribution turns into a monetary right for an endless string of influences, but I agree it is likely to improve on the current system. I'd be happy to discuss this further if you are interested. mlemley@law.stanford.edu

Knocked it out of the park. You are brilliant as you are creative. Keep up the good work.
