The War of Twin Purges: Wendigo, Humans, and Druids
804 FA - Coronation of Hjalmar and Astrid Kinshalbur
In 804 FA, following the victory over the druids, Hjalmar and Astrid Kinshalbur were anointed as King and Queen of Yuhia. King Hjalmar, renowned for his prowess in battle, focused almost exclusively on military affairs, strengthening the kingdom's defenses. Queen Astrid, in contrast, oversaw domestic matters and the governance of the newly liberated wendigo. Together, they laid the foundation for Yuhia’s future as a strong, independent kingdom.
804 FA - Establishment of Yuhia's First Settlements
After their liberation in 804 FA, the wendigo quickly began establishing new settlements across Yuhia. These settlements were designed to serve both as defensive outposts and as centers of husbandry and trade. The first of these was Hjalmardalr, named in honor of king Hjalmar Kinshalbur, and situated near the Diredian Forest. Hjalmardalr became the seat of power for his wife Astrid Kinshalbur’s rule and the de facto capital of the new wendigo kingdom.
805 FA - The Appointment of Regional Governors
In 805 FA, Queen Astrid appointed the first regional governors to oversee the new settlements and ensure loyalty to the crown. These governors, chosen for their bravery and leadership during the rebellion, were tasked with managing resources, fortifying defenses, and maintaining order within their regions.
805 FA - The Creation of the Warden’s Council
Recognizing the need for a unified defense strategy, the King and Queen established the Warden’s Council in 805 FA. This council consisted of military leaders, governors, and trusted advisors who met regularly to discuss the defense and governance of Yuhia. The council was instrumental in organizing the kingdom’s rebuilding efforts and in preparing for the possibility of future conflicts.
806 FA - Diplomatic Overtures to Neighboring Kingdoms
In an effort to secure peace and prevent future conflicts, Queen Astrid sent envoys to neighboring human kingdoms, including Musha, to establish diplomatic relations. However, these overtures were met with suspicion and were largely unsuccessful. The humans, fearful of the growing power of Yuhia, rebuffed these attempts, fueling tensions that would soon erupt into open conflict.
806 FA - The Establishment of the Diredian Guard
To protect the sacred Diredian Forest and maintain order within the kingdom, King Hjalmar established the Diredian Guard in late 806 FA. This elite unit was made up of wendigo warriors who had proven themselves in the rebellion. The Diredian Guard was tasked with defending the forest from incursions, particularly from the druids, who still sought to reclaim it as their own.
807 FA - The Foundation of Bjornskogen
In early 807 FA, a new settlement known as Bjornskogen was founded in the western forests of Yuhia. This settlement was named after Bjorn Ivson, a legendary wendigo warrior who had fought alongside Hjalmar during the rebellion. Bjornskogen quickly grew into a thriving community, known for its skilled hunters and foresters, and played a key role in securing Yuhia's western borders.
807 FA - The Prophecy of the Iron Oaks
Shortly before the outbreak of war in 807 FA, a prophecy was delivered by Völva Hilda, a revered wendigo oracle. She spoke of the "Iron Oaks," a symbolic reference to the strength and endurance of the wendigo people, predicting that Yuhia would face a storm of iron and blood but would ultimately stand unbroken. This prophecy became a rallying cry for the wendigo as they prepared to face the impending conflict with the humans and druids.
807 FA - The Formation of the Human-Druid Alliance
Sensing the growing power of Yuhia, the humans and druids put aside their differences and formed an uneasy alliance. In mid-807 FA, their leaders convened secretly in the shadow of the Moonpeak Mountains to plan a coordinated attack on Yuhia. The druids, led by Archdruid Eirikr, sought to reclaim the Diredian Forest and reassert their dominance, while the humans, fearing the resurgence of wendigo power, aimed to crush the kingdom before it could threaten their lands.
807 FA - The Warning from the Hasin Clan
In the weeks leading up to the attack, the Hasin Clan, who had remained vigilant in their watch over the borders, intercepted communications between the human and druid forces. They brought this intelligence to King Hjalmar, who immediately began preparations for the defense of Yuhia. Although the warning gave the wendigo some time to ready their forces, the scale of the attack would catch them by surprise, ending the brief period of peace they had enjoyed.
807 FA - The Joint Assault and the Fall of the Holy Land
The human and druid forces struck simultaneously. From the east, the armies of Musha and other human factions surged across the border, seeking to overwhelm the wendigo before they could mount a defense. From the west, the druids launched a relentless assault on the Diredian Forest, the renamed Holy Land and spiritual heart of the wendigo kingdom. Meanwhile, human raiders from the Force Isles descended from the north, attacking the wendigo’s coastal settlements and threatening to cut off their access to the sea.
The wendigo, though fierce and determined, were unprepared for the scale and coordination of this attack. The Diredian Forest, sacred and central to their identity, became a battlefield. Despite their best efforts, the wendigo were forced to retreat from the Diredain Forest, moving their capital further south to avoid total destruction. The druids, fueled by their hatred and desire to reclaim what they considered their sacred ground, fought with a ferocity that pushed the wendigo to the brink.
809 FA - 819 FA: The Struggle for Survival
The wendigo found themselves fighting on multiple fronts. In the east, they faced the human armies, whose sheer numbers threatened to overwhelm their defenses. The druids pressed from the west, determined to reclaim the Diredian Forest. The northern coast was ravaged by human raiders, whose ships gave them an advantage the wendigo lacked.
Desperate to protect their shores, the wendigo began capturing human ships and learning the art of naval warfare. It was a slow and painful process, and the wendigo navy, though determined, faced many challenges. They won some battles and lost others, but they managed to prevent the complete domination of their northern coast.
819 FA - 894 FA: The Construction of Fort Lavi
Amidst the ongoing war, the wendigo began constructing a fortress that would stand as a symbol of their resilience and strength. Fort Lavi, strategically placed on the eastern border, was envisioned as an impenetrable bastion against the human onslaught. Its construction took 75 years, from 819 FA to 894 FA, and was a monumental effort involving the most powerful wendigo mages and warriors.
Fort Lavi was more than just a fortress; it was a marvel of magical engineering, incorporating advanced spells and enchantments that modern wendigo can only partially understand. The fortress’s walls were imbued with protective runes that repelled even the most powerful siege weapons, and its towers were designed to harness the natural energies of the earth, amplifying the power of the wendigo defenders.
As Fort Lavi neared completion, it became clear that the wendigo were no longer simply defending their kingdom—they were asserting their dominance. The fortress stood as a defiant challenge to the humans, signaling that the wendigo were not to be trifled with.
822 FA: The Siege of Diredian Forest
Overview: The Siege of Diredian Forest was a prolonged and brutal conflict that marked the peak of the druids’ attempt to reclaim the wendigo’s sacred land. The forest, having been the heart of the wendigo kingdom, was heavily fortified but faced a relentless siege by druidic forces.
Key Figures:
Eirik Bloodbane - A prominent druid general leading the siege against the wendigo. Eirik was known for his cunning and his use of powerful earth magic to assault the forest’s defenses.
Hjalmar Kinshalbur - Despite being engaged on multiple fronts, Hjalmar personally defended the Diredian Forest. His leadership and combat skills were crucial in holding off the druids’ advances.
Lina Hjalmardóttir - Hjalmar’s daughter and future queen, who played a significant role in organizing the defense and rallying the wendigo forces during the siege. Lina's strategic insights and leadership were instrumental in the wendigo’s resistance.
Outcome: The wendigo managed to hold their ground, although the siege caused considerable damage. The failure of the druids to reclaim the forest marked a turning point in the war, bolstering the wendigo’s resolve and their strategic position.
820 FA - The Death of Master Enchanter Ulfric Runeseer
In 820 FA, Ulfric Runeseer, one of the foremost wendigo enchanters and a key figure in the construction of Fort Lavi, was killed in a surprise raid by human forces. Ulfric had been responsible for designing many of the fort’s intricate magical defenses, including the powerful wards that shielded it from enemy spells. His death was a significant loss, and many of his complex incantations were lost with him, contributing to the eventual decline in understanding of Fort Lavi's full magical capabilities.
825 FA - The First Blood Mage
In 825 FA, Vermundr Blodhrafn emerged as the wendigo’s first blood mage, earning the title "Ódauðlegur Galdramaðr" (Immortal Mage) for his mastery of Sanguine magic. Vermundr pioneered the use of blood magic, which granted him an advanced healing factor, leading many to believe he was truly immortal. His ability to endure wounds that would kill ordinary warriors made him a legendary figure, and his teachings laid the foundation for future generations of wendigo blood mages.
830 FA - The Alliance with the Hasin Goblin Clan
In 830 FA, amidst the brutal war against the humans and druids, the wendigo secured a critical alliance with the Hasin goblin clan. Grimm Hasin, the clan leader, negotiated the terms with Hjalmar Kinshalbur, providing the wendigo with valuable resources and military aid. This alliance significantly bolstered the wendigo’s defenses, especially along their northern and western borders. The Hasin goblins settled in wendigo territory, becoming a crucial part of the war effort and stabilizing the kingdom during a perilous time.
830 FA - The Arrival of Haldor Ironhelm
Haldor Ironhelm, a brilliant strategist and engineer, arrived at Fort Lavi in 830 FA to oversee its construction. Haldor was instrumental in developing the fortress's layout, incorporating both magical and physical defenses that made it nearly impregnable. He introduced innovative siege defenses and ensured that the fort's design maximized the power of its enchantments. Haldor's leadership and expertise were critical to the fort's success, but his untimely death in 842 FA left many of his plans unfinished, contributing to the loss of understanding over time.

844 FA - The Death of Hjalmar Kinshalbur
In 844 FA, Hjalmar Kinshalbur, the revered Nature’s Wrath and wendigo leader, perished in a decisive battle against a combined human and druidic force. Leading a critical charge, Hjalmar fell, creating a somber yet galvanizing moment for the wendigo. His death, while a significant blow, inspired his daughter, Lina Hjalmardóttir, to rally the wendigo and press forward. Under her leadership, the wendigo persevered through the final stages of the war, eventually achieving victory.
844 FA - The Death of Hjalmar Kinshalbur
Month 1: Vetrarfangr (Winter Capture)
The year began with a series of grueling skirmishes as the wendigo, led by Hjalmar Kinshalbur, faced a formidable coalition of human and druidic forces. The coalition, seeking to exploit the wendigo’s weakened state, launched a major offensive to break the wendigo’s resolve. Hjalmar, fully aware of the high stakes, prepared for a decisive confrontation.
Month 4: Bjarnarmánuðr (Bear Month)
By spring, the wendigo forces, despite fierce resistance, were pushed back towards a crucial stronghold. Hjalmar, determined to turn the tide, led a counteroffensive at the Battle of Frostmoor. The battle was fierce, with both sides suffering heavy casualties. Hjalmar’s strategic acumen and bravery shone through as he led a daring assault on the coalition’s command center.
Month 6: Gróamánuðr (Growing Month)
As summer approached, the intensity of the battle increased. Despite the wendigo’s relentless efforts, the coalition forces managed to surround Hjalmar’s main camp. In a climactic clash during the Siege of Frostmoor, Hjalmar fell while leading a desperate charge against the encroaching forces. His death was a grievous blow to his people, and the wendigo mourned the loss of their revered leader.
Month 8: Blómamánuðr (Blooming Month)
In the aftermath of Hjalmar’s death, his daughter Lina Hjalmardóttir, who had been fighting alongside her father, faced a critical challenge. To solidify her claim to leadership and take command of the wendigo forces, Lina had to defeat her sister, Eydis Kinshalbur, in combat. Eydis, loyal to the ideals of thier mother Queen Astrid, opposed Lina’s ascension and challenged her in a duel.
Month 9: Hrafnblót (Raven Sacrifice)
The duel between Lina and Eydis occurred in the Raven’s Hollow, a sacred arena for wendigo combat. Lina emerged victorious, killing Eydis and consuming her remains. This act, while brutal, was a necessary rite to assert her dominance and claim her father’s mantle. Her victory solidified her position and rallied the wendigo forces under her command.
Month 10: Sólfangr (Sun Capture)
Despite the heavy losses and the profound grief over her father’s death, Lina’s resolve strengthened. Drawing inspiration from Hjalmar’s final moments and his unwavering leadership, she rallied the wendigo forces and pushed forward with renewed determination. She was crowned as a Warlord and created her own faction within the wendigo to honor her father’s legacy and secure ultimate victory.

845 FA - The Great Mystics' Demise
In 845 FA, a catastrophic event known as the Great Mystics' Demise occurred, in which many of the wendigo's most powerful mages were killed in a failed ritual to further strengthen Fort Lavi. The ritual was intended to bind ancient elemental spirits to the fortress, but it backfired, resulting in a massive explosion that obliterated the ritual site and claimed the lives of the wendigo’s greatest magical minds. This tragedy led to a significant loss of arcane knowledge, particularly concerning the fort's more advanced enchantments.
865 FA - The Lost Incantations of Skaldra the Wise
By 865 FA, the complexity of Fort Lavi's magical defenses had become a mystery to many of the younger generation of wendigo mages. The Lost Incantations of Skaldra the Wise, one of the original architects of the fort’s enchantments, were considered the key to fully understanding and maintaining the fortress. Unfortunately, Skaldra had passed away during the early stages of the fort’s construction, and much of her knowledge was lost with her. Despite efforts to recover her work, the intricate spells she devised remained elusive, contributing to the decline in the understanding of the fort’s full power.
880 FA - The Final Reinforcement
In 880 FA, as the construction of Fort Lavi neared completion, a final effort was made to reinforce its defenses. Jarl Ragnvald Stonefist, a renowned wendigo warrior and mage, led a team of enchanters in inscribing the Runes of Eternity onto the fort’s foundations. These runes were said to make the fort impervious to time and decay, ensuring it would stand for millennia. However, the exact methods used were kept secret, and with the passing of those who worked on the project, much of this knowledge was lost, further contributing to the mystery surrounding Fort Lavi's enchantments.
894 FA - Completion of Fort Lavi
In 894 FA, after 75 years of labor and sacrifice, Fort Lavi was finally completed. The fortress stood as a testament to wendigo resilience and ingenuity, its towering walls and potent enchantments defying any who would dare challenge Yuhia. Although its full magical potential remained a mystery to future generations, Fort Lavi became the ultimate symbol of wendigo strength and a cornerstone of the kingdom's defense. The fort's completion marked the end of a monumental chapter in wendigo history, as the focus shifted from construction to the ongoing struggle for survival against their enemies.
894 FA - 916 FA: The Turning Point and the Druids' Desperation
By the time Fort Lavi was completed, the war had dragged on for nearly a century. The wendigo, though bloodied, had not been broken. They had learned the harsh lessons of war and had become a people who valued strength above all else. It was this belief in the ultimate authority of power that began to turn the tide in their favor.
The humans, despite their numbers, could not break the wendigo's will. Fort Lavi became a symbol of their failure, a fortress that repelled every attack and stood as a reminder of the wendigo's indomitable spirit. The druids, meanwhile, grew increasingly desperate. Their initial victories had given way to a grueling war of attrition, and their internal divisions deepened as the conflict dragged on.
In the final years of the war, the wendigo began to push back with renewed vigor. Their navy, though still rudimentary, had improved enough to fend off the northern raiders, and their armies, hardened by years of relentless battle, began to reclaim territory from both the humans and the druids.
The war, which had begun as an attempt to crush the wendigo before they became too powerful, had instead forged them into a people who saw strength as the ultimate determiner of righteousness and fitness to rule. This belief would define the wendigo for generations to come.

895 FA - The Duel of Kinshalbur
In 895 FA, tensions reached a breaking point between Lina Hjalmardóttir Kinshalbur and her mother, Queen Astrid, following King Hjalmar's death in 844 FA. Both women claimed the throne, leading to a bloody duel between their forces. The conflict culminated in a personal duel between Lina and Astrid, ending with Astrid’s death. Lina’s victory secured her absolute rule over the wendigo, solidifying her authority and uniting the kingdom under her leadership as the war raged on.
895 FA - The Kinshalbur Conflict Unfolds (Death of Astrid)
Month 1: Vetrarfangr (Winter Capture)
In early 895 FA, tensions within the wendigo leadership erupted after Lina Hjalmardóttir Kinshalbur and her mother, Queen Astrid, publicly clashed over the future of the fledgling nation. Queen Astrid sought to establish a meritocratic government modeled after successful human kingdoms, believing that wisdom and skill, rather than brute strength, should guide Yuhia. Lina, radicalized by her father King Hjalmar’s teachings, vehemently opposed this, asserting that only the strongest had the right to rule.
Month 4: Bjarnarmánuðr (Bear Month)
As spring thawed the land, the conflict between Lina and Astrid escalated into open rebellion. Lina gathered loyalists who shared her belief in strength-based rule, while Astrid's faction, which included several of Lina’s siblings, rallied to the queen’s side. The kingdom, still reeling from the prolonged war, found itself on the brink of civil war. Battles broke out across Yuhia as both factions vied for control, and the fledgling kingdom teetered on the edge of collapse.
Month 7: Hrafnblót (Raven Sacrifice)
The turning point came in mid-year, when Lina's forces, hardened by years of warfare, decisively defeated Astrid’s loyalists in the Battle of Hrafnskogr. The battle saw Lina’s tactics and sheer ferocity outmatch her mother's more measured approach. Lina herself led the charge, demonstrating her belief that the strong should lead by example. The battle resulted in heavy casualties on both sides, further weakening the kingdom at a crucial time.
Month 10: Blótmánuðr (Sacrifice Month)
In Blótmánuðr, the conflict reached its climax with a personal duel between Lina and Astrid in the sacred Direwood Grove. The duel was as much a battle of ideologies as it was of physical prowess. After a brutal fight, Lina emerged victorious, slaying her mother and claiming the throne. The death of Queen Astrid was a devastating blow to her followers, who either submitted to Lina’s rule or were killed and consumed, a practice still common among the wendigo of this era.
Month 12: Sigrmánuðr (Victory Month)
With Astrid dead and her siblings either subdued or executed, Lina consolidated her power. She enforced her belief in kraterocracy, where the strongest ruled and those who opposed were destroyed. Lina’s absolute rule was solidified, and she began to reform the kingdom in her image. The conflict, though brief, was a major turning point for Yuhia, shaping the wendigo into a people who revered strength above all else. The internal strife had left the kingdom bloodied and weakened, but under Lina's rule, the wendigo emerged as a more unified, albeit brutal, force as the war with the humans and druids continued.
________________
899 FA - The Emergence of Fólkaskuggi
In 899 FA, a group of wendigo assassins known as the Fólkaskuggi (People's Shadows) began targeting druidic leaders and key human commanders. Their covert operations, led by the enigmatic Skadi Svartálfar, disrupted enemy plans and sowed fear among the wendigo's foes. This group’s actions were instrumental in weakening the druids' resolve and hastening the end of the war.
902 FA - The Loss of Ragnvald Stonefist
In 902 FA, Jarl Ragnvald Stonefist, the architect of Fort Lavi’s final enchantments, was killed during a daring counterattack on a druidic stronghold. His death was a severe blow to the wendigo, as his expertise in both warfare and magic had been pivotal in their defensive strategies. His loss marked the end of an era for the wendigo’s magical advancement, as many of his secrets died with him.
905 FA - The Breakthrough at Skogul's Crossing
In 905 FA, the wendigo achieved a significant victory at Skogul's Crossing, a strategic river passage. Warlord Kjell Stormbearer led a daring assault that broke the human defenses, allowing the wendigo to reclaim lost territory and establish a crucial supply route. This victory was a turning point in the war, as it boosted wendigo morale and demonstrated their growing military might.
910 FA - The Sinking of the Human Fleet
In 910 FA, the wendigo navy, still in its formative stages, secured a decisive victory by sinking a substantial portion of the human fleet from the Force Isles. Jarl Eirik Seawolf, instrumental in the navy's development, led the attack. The wendigo’s success was largely due to their recent mastery of taming large sea creatures, turning them into powerful familiars. These formidable beasts disrupted the human ships, allowing the wendigo warships to overwhelm their enemies and establish dominance at sea.
914 FA - The Desperation of the Druids
By 914 FA, the druids, under High Druid Asmundr the Withered, were losing ground rapidly. Their forces, weakened by years of infighting and wendigo assaults, were pushed back into the deepest parts of the sacred forests. Asmundr, desperate to turn the tide, attempted a forbidden ritual to summon the spirits of the forest to their aid. The ritual backfired, leading to the death of many druids and further demoralizing their forces. This failure marked the beginning of the end for the druids.
916 FA - The Final Battle of the War of Twin Purges
In 916 FA, the wendigo secured their ultimate victory in the War of Twin Purges. Lina Hjalmardóttir, now queen of Yuhia, led her forces with unparalleled strength and resolve, mirroring her father’s legendary prowess. The battle saw the defeat of Tariq Ural, a key human commander, and Eldra Windwalker, a prominent druidic leader. Their downfall marked the end of organized resistance. This decisive victory solidified the wendigo’s rule, securing their borders and bringing an end to the century-long conflict.
The Original Noble Houses of Yuhia
918 FA - The Nazem Family's Reward
The Nazem Family, recognized for their unmatched military prowess and strategic leadership during the war, was awarded control of Fort City Lavi. This city, known as the most impenetrable defensive structure on the continent, became a symbol of Yuhia's resilience and strength. The Nazem Family's control over this fortress ensured the kingdom's continued protection against external threats.
918 FA - The Salstar Family's Dominion
The Salstar Family, distinguished for their strategic and diplomatic contributions, was granted control over the western territories. These lands, dense with forests and strategically important, became a vital part of the kingdom's defenses and trade routes. The Salstars' management of these territories helped stabilize the kingdom and strengthen its western borders.
918 FA - The Hasin Clan's Integration
The Hasin Clan, the only non-wendigo noble house, was granted nobility and land in the northern regions of Yuhia. Their loyalty during the war and support in battle earned them this rare honor. Thousands of goblins, now full citizens of Yuhia, settled in these northern territories. The Hasin Clan's integration into the kingdom marked a significant shift in Yuhia's demographic and political landscape.
918 FA - The Gunnarson Family's Southern Holdings
The Gunnarson Family, known for their expertise in agriculture and resource management, was given control of the southern fertile lands. These rich territories were crucial for the kingdom's food production and economic stability. Under the Gunnarson's stewardship, these lands flourished, ensuring the prosperity of Yuhia.
918 FA - The Haldor Family and the Navy
The Haldor Family played a crucial role in developing the wendigo navy during the war, a feat that earned them control over the northern highlands. These highlands, rich in minerals and natural resources, were vital for the kingdom's naval strength. The Haldor's contribution to Yuhia's maritime capabilities helped secure the kingdom's northern shores and maintain its sovereignty.
918 FA - The Bjornsen Family's Forest Stewardship
The Bjornsen Family was awarded the western forests, an area known for its strategic location and natural defenses. Their control over this region was crucial in protecting Yuhia from external threats and managing the kingdom's wilderness. The Bjornsens' stewardship of the western forests ensured the safety and stability of Yuhia's borders.
918 FA - The Ragnarsson Family's Eastern Plains
The Ragnarsson Family, assigned the eastern plains, took charge of one of the kingdom's most vital agricultural regions. These fertile lands were essential for Yuhia's food supply and trade. The Ragnarsson's management of these plains contributed significantly to the kingdom's economic stability and growth, making them an integral part of Yuhia's nobility.
