Random Lore Royal House Pt. 4

✦ The Reformers ✦

Led by: Fourth Prince Baldur Al Kossiheim Qar

The Reformers are a rising political faction born from the ashes of failure. After the Visionaries lost control of the Fort City of Lavi, a window opened—a chance for those royal siblings not yet aligned with any side to take action. Seizing the opportunity, Fourth Prince Baldur emerged as the face of a third path: one that neither worships tradition nor seeks to uplift only the elite.

Unlike Arnar or Sigrun, Baldur champions empowerment from the bottom up. He believes that by elevating the disenfranchised, the nation can forge stronger citizens—thereby challenging the complacent nobility and shaking the throne’s foundations. Though not altruistic, Baldur’s intentions have the appearance of benevolence, earning him immense popularity among commoners, merchants, low-ranking officials, and soldiers.

While lacking noble support and still building his military foundation, Baldur’s faction is rising fast—backed by a powerful team of overlooked yet highly capable royals who each bring something vital to the cause. The Reformers represent momentum, hope, and a potential revolution in the kingdom’s social structure.

✦ Core Ideals

The Reformers Faction believes that true strength is forged through challenge, and that the nobility and royalty have grown complacent atop an untested system. They seek to reshape Yuhia into a crucible—where power is constantly refined through struggle and merit. To them, a kingdom thrives only when the powerful are tested and the common masses are cultivated, not ignored. Untapped potential among the lowborn is seen as a waste of strength; every missed prodigy, every silenced talent, is a weakness in the kingdom’s armor. Reformers push to uplift the lower classes—not out of kindness, but because they believe the next great mage, war hero, or leader may rise from obscurity. Their generosity is a means to an end: to create a society where the strong rise, and the elite are kept sharp by constant competition from below.

✦ Key Members of the Reformers ✦

Prince Baldur Al Asmari Qar – The Fourth Prince and leader Reformer. He is a calculating and ambitious prince who saw opportunity in the cracks of his siblings' conflict. Baldur wants to create a more dangerous, sharper nation by cultivating power at every level of society. Though not sentimental, his policies make him appear deeply empathetic, which feeds his meteoric rise in popularity.

Princess Inga Al Ysheim Qar – The Third Princess known as The People's Princess. Born to a concubine and often overlooked within the palace, Inga developed an uncommon streetwise sensibility. She connects easily with the common folk, speaks their language, and acts as Baldur’s emotional translator and cultural bridge. Her charm and grounded approach help humanize the faction.

Princess Tova Al Jarnskog Qar – The Twelfth Princess and the Blade of the Reformers. She is a fierce warrior with a record of military excellence, Tova commands the Fourth Prince’s growing army. She is building discipline, tactics, and organization into what was previously a faction without martial strength. Her presence legitimizes Baldur’s faction in the eyes of soldiers and veterans.

Prince Eirik Al Drakensval Qar – The Fifth Prince and  seen as The Merchant Kingmaker. He is a genius with finance and logistics, Eirik is the architect of the Reformers’ economic web. He is rapidly building ties to merchants, guilds, and urban trade networks—ensuring the faction has wealth and influence even in enemy-controlled areas. His silent chessboard approach contrasts with Baldur’s public image.

Princess Runa Al Skjellfjord Qar – The Seventh Princess treasured for her support. She was often overlooked and forgotten, Runa lacks the prestige or accomplishments of her siblings. However, her choice to stand behind Baldur speaks volumes to her beliefs. Her quiet loyalty and humility offer a moral weight to the faction, and her presence resonates with Baldur.

✦ Strengths of the Reformers ✦

✦ Flaws and Vulnerabilities ✦

✦ Attitude Toward Kratocracy ✦

Baldur rejects the Kratocracy as it currently functions. The system breeds complacency among the elite, rewarding those already in power rather than cultivating new strength. His philosophy is that a blade cannot remain sharp if never reforged. So the nation must constantly elevate its best and brightest, no matter their birth somewhere along the way they lost this important factor.

While he respects strength, Baldur believes that true strength comes from growth and challenge, not inherited privilege. He would reshape Kratocracy into a meritocracy-by-struggle, where the bottom is given resources to rise and challenge the top. This makes Baldur the most revolutionary of the three major claimants. He doesn’t just want to rule the system, he wants to rewrite the rules.

✦ The Undecided ✦

Not a faction but still the final piece of the crown.

These royal siblings have chosen silence over loyalty, observation over action. They remain officially unaffiliated in a kingdom where power is rapidly polarizing but they are far from irrelevant. Each of them holds influence, leverage, or unique insight that could decide the fate of the kingdom.

Had Arnar held the Fort City of Lavi, their neutrality would have ended by force or necessity. However his defeat reshaped the political battlefield, giving them time to watch, calculate, and weigh the true cost of allegiance. The looming truth is that Magni’s successor will need to unify the royal house, and these siblings may well be the deciding factor in who wears the crown or if war decides instead.

Princess Thyra Al Keldrosen Qar – Sixth Princess

The Royal Grand General
Thyra is a woman of depth and discipline; she, Arnar and Sigrun were the Grand Generals of the Royal Faction. After the conflict for the throne began the Royal army split four ways. Those behind King Magni until his end, then those that chose to follow their Grand General. She is quiet, reserved, and sharp-minded, once thought to be the next contender for the throne (before Baldur joined the succession conflict instead.) She sees promise in Baldur's vision, yet fears his foundation isn’t yet secure. Still, the ideology aligns, and if she moves, she may bring enough martial power to tip the balance. A true military tactician in mindset, she does not act on potential only on certainty. Because of this she sees merit in the Visionaries as well.

Currently weighing: Reformers (Baldur) vs. Visionaries (Sigrun)
Potential impact:
Major strategic and military leverage

Princess Elin Al Snjørholt Qar – Thirteenth Princess

The King's Shadow
The youngest daughter and the most unexpected variable. Sheltered, innocent-seeming, and politically quiet, Elin has chosen to remain by her ailing father’s side. She has taken it upon herself to care for him in his declining years. But proximity to the king has given her a unique window into his mind, and more importantly, his moods, secrets, and intentions.

While others war over influence, Elin already has it organically, without threat or ambition. She says little, but if she chose to speak for a faction, her word could make or break succession. For now, her loyalty lies not with her siblings, but with her father. If war comes, she may be the only voice that could prevent it.

Currently aligned with: King Magni
Potential impact: Game-changing insight into the King’s will

Vidar Al Norrkvist Qar – Sixth Prince

The Wolf in the Marble Hall
No one knows where Vidar stands and that’s exactly how he likes it. Cold, calculating, and eerily composed, he glides through court like a specter. He's seen speaking with members of every faction, offering no allegiance but listening to all. Where others make moves, he watches the board.

He is either biding his time to support the victor, or plotting to be one himself. After the fall of Lavi, eyes are starting to turn his way. His neutrality feels less like passivity and more like predation. Some whisper he may be building a network of his own in secret, outside the traditional alliances.

Currently aligned with: Neutral
Potential impact: Wild card with unclear ambitions and vast potential.
