Sketch vs Final scene

Sometimes we go through several iterations of the same scene before we settle on a vision...

In this scene, for our video about plants-on-plants, we wanted to show that the plants catch and use rainwater. Then the water supports other creatures.
Of course, we just HAD to show a happy little frog. (our little feel-good tip is to google images of frogs that live inside bromeliad plants)

When it came to the thumbnails, we had a few different ideas for what could be fun. One of them was a scene with happy epiphytes in the sun while watervapor is moving around them.

Then, Henry had the (what I think is hilarious) idea to make a drawing of plants on plants on plants on plants, and to create a fractal-like image. I think it ended up looking a bit like a spiderplant.

Then, the one that's currenty up has the airplant very angrily refusing the watering can. Of course, airplants do need water but it's usually given by misting them or straight-up dunking them into water on occasion. But without having roots, there's not really any soil to water.

This video was a lot of fun to work on and made me appreciate these plants in a completely new way. I hope you enjoyed it too!

Have a lovely weekend,
