Luna is coming!

...but not today, gao!

I would like to talk about a few things! So I'm doing a big blogpost. I would really like your thoughts on them!

First, the status screen.

I put a status screen into Sana's game and it worked pretty well but I would like to make it more interesting for Luna.A few things came to mind:

1.) A status screen for villains that shows their progress towards Luna. This would make it more interesting than just watching the corruption go up. Maybe not even have a status screen for Luna and only show the villains with artworks as they get closer to her!?

2.) More information about what Luna thinks of Anon at any point in the game. For Sana, people constantly ask if I could show more of her thoughts during scenes.

I often don't want to do it during scenes because it is Anon's point of view after all but the status screen could perform that role in hindsight. I think it is a good way to have information about her feelings bypass Anon and only reach the player.

3.) A status screen for all the main girls and not just Luna. This would essentially just show how far you have progressed their questlines with some extra art attached to it.

A more fancy quest-log and I'm not entirely sure if it's worth the effort! Might as well put the art to better use for their scenes.

I'm still not decided on it. The current state of the game only tracks all the necessary stats so I can implement it for old saves in the future. I haven't given my artist a list of what I need for status screens yet so the first few builds will probably not have it.

Next, sprite scenes!

Making sprite scenes is really fun! But I've gotten very conflicted feedback for them.

In Sana, lots of people said that some of their favourite scenes are sprited ones, such as the act 2 trainer in the tent or the act 4 hidden goblin cave.

But almost all the time I get asked "can you add artwork to this" or get some other disappointed response. It's very split!

I would like to have lots of them for Luna as well but I'm confused what the player's opinion on them is.

If you are someone who feels disappointed if a scene has only sprites instead of artwork, please let me know why! Are the scenes too low in quality or are you someone who only enjoys the art and doesn't care for anything else, I want to know!

Third, outfits!

I want to put our girls into lots of different outfits but it is difficult to make lots of scenes for all of them.

Some of Sana's outfits only got one scene total and I receive bad feedback for it.

What is your opinion, quality or quantity? Should we make few outfits with lots of scenes for them (For example, a swimsuit that has an entire storyline attached to it) or just put Luna into as many cute dresses as we can, even if they only get one scene before we move to the next?

If you want to talk about this stuff more directly, now is a good time to advertise our Discord server: Click me!

If you are from FANBOX, write me a PM or post in the public channel and I will give you access!

And because I can't make a post empty-handed, here's Pudding taking a closer look at how she can be of help to the party.

Luna's size is actually something I talked to my artist about today. I did think her chest looks too large on that image with Pudding.

I loke the sprite scenes and would say keep them, but maybe at a higher quality. The goblin one is one of my favs, but it's in the far corner of the visible space iirc. I would personally go quality on outfits probably with polls as to various themes and then voting on sketches of the winning themes design. As for Luna thoughts instead of a diary she could have a physical or virtual diary in the real world that could functionally replay scenes from her pov or with her reminiscing about them. My only negative with the concepts and sich you've shown is that her boobs have already gotten big, I miss the flat tomboy already

Yep! So when it comes to the girl's thoughts about the situation I prefer not to just clearly reveal everything.

It's good to know that people also enjoy it when the girl gives only a hint of her thoughts or feelings towards the MC. I don't like it when it's so on the nose! And if she's doing stuff behind your back, why would the MC know how she really feels about it!

For villains (or side characters) it would be more like a profile page, showing progress instead of tracking stats. I thought about having stats for side characters and villains too (how many times did they touch the tail, exactly!?) but it might not be that interesting.

As a suggestion for the villains how about something like this: Instead of status screen we get "Profiles" that get updated after certain events (1-3) with the final update once the player is locked on their ending (if that's a thing if not just at max). The "Profiles" could also be used to track other characters questlines leaving the questlog free for main and side quests. I think you already did great handling the way the Sana feel toward Anon so I trust you on this. I really like spritework and you did a great job with Sana but the consistency of just artwork wins for me, still you could take the recent approach of Acerola where they use spritework only for generic scenes or at the end of event lines instead of scene repeat. Personal bias but I prefer quality over quantity so 3 outfits with 4 scenes instead of 9 outfits with 1, specially if I really love an outfit over the others

For the status something you could do is similar to the Gentle Girl series, have Luna's thoughts shown in her status screen. Not necessarily always about Anon (Though he would likely come up) but about the whatever is happening to her in the moment, you could use that as another method to track progression too as her thoughts become more and more corrupted. Just an idea though

For the status I liked the first idea the best, with there being corruption artwork for the villains depending on how close they are. Maybe I'm an outlier but I don't care as much about what Luna or Sana would be thinking in the moment in regards to Anon (Sana sometimes gave light commentary about it anyway and that was perfect). Sprite scenes are fine, I prefer artworks over them but I think its good to have variety with some scenes being sprites only, some artwork only, and some a mixture. I must be an outlier here too, because i agree with your take on outfits. I think starting off with quantity is the best way to let everyone who might like a specific outfit get a scene they really like. And if there is a universally loved outfit, then you can find it using quantity first and quality later, with future updates having a return of outfits for more scenes. Overall though I prefer a large number of outfits even if they only appear for 1 or 2 scenes.

Don't really care to see the villain status, they're just a means to an end, and would at least to me be completely ignored, and having Lunas thoughts on anon might be okay, but it might also just take away from the players own interpretation of events
