Did you look into the physics that latest Nobel prizes were awarded to? Especially: What are the theoretical discoveries in physical cosmology by James Peebles about? And since you asked about physicists working on the CMB, what's coming up about that? I'm reminded by a diagram Katie Mack posted, which was about the value of the hubble constant H0: https://twitter.com/AstroKatie/status/1181925608227561472 How about a collab where you two explain the different experiments contributed to this "mess".
