Toon "Burst" Concepts

The different "burst" types can be paired with any expansion type but I wanted to list which ones i thought would fit with which expansion the best, though i only used belly expansion & Tatiana for the examples.

Not to get super technical, but having this ref gives me an easy transition reference from expanded form to new transformed state. think like the Chrysalid's from resident evil 6, but instead of it always being a flame transformation, it would use different elements and effects. Which In turn will make transformation scenes at the end of sequences much quicker as i can cover model changes and hopefully make it more visual novel style friendly at least as far as what I have planned for animations.

I'm thinking about reworking these so it's more apparent that after the host becomes immobile, they them selves are transforming and bursting out of the old shell, transforming into a new state in the process, with a failed transformation simply resulting in them becoming immobile but NOT entering the chrysalid state and transforming afterwards.

Also, I mentioned this on twitter, but I'm aiming for an "Invader Zim - Dark Harvest meets Shantae and the pirates curse" Vibe, not so much RE6 meets happy tree friends Vibe with the 3BS series as I want the V3 soldiers and the 3BS company to be comedic villains, with them occasionally helping the defector Haleigh to stop actual baddies (or their own plans working too well) from threatening threatening the Sol Islands.

Thanks! I'm doin' my best to make something that can stand on it's own without the ecchi stuff, but also complements the ecchi fun. :D

Light of Shadows

TL-DR: Type ? is my fave as I'm a fan of the Mega-man, XJ9 and Shantae transformation abilities for different skills (and thus expansions) to suit different situations, with Haleigh (being the only v3 unit without an A at the end of her name) being the rogue that goes to stop the other v3 units from causing problems, copying and modifying their skills along the way. Long Version: Well, I have a few for different situations but I'll narrow it down to a few. Base on Excitement to draw: I'm most Excited for Type X, Type? and Type R. Also, Type H will be neat for more spooky stuff. • Type X is going to be a more complex transformation sequence that I don't get to practice often and if I get a hang of it, animating the others will be a lot easier. • Type ? I'm super excited for because i plan on using it for quick, at will transformations with Haleigh, giving her different transformation abilities similar to XJ9 or Digimon. And unlike all the other V3 Units who's transformations happen when they abuse their powers and causes them to get weaker, Haleigh is designed to get stronger as she mutates in exchange for speed and mobility. • Lastly, Type R is just my desire to draw explosions on a massive scale. imagine the mini nukes from fall out and the host back flipping out of the blast, completely transformed into a new form, taking their foe off guard who thought they destroyed them. I think it could be cool and while i know my stuff is expansion / lewd focused, i find that i enjoy lewd content more when it's just dressing around a fun story. it doesn't have to be super complex and epic but having a narrative with ecchi and cool scenes is a huge plus for me, especially if all the characters are at least interesting enough to move the plot along and keep my interest outside of their ecchi designs. • Type H is familiar and blood bursting is just water balloon busting but with more line-work and redder colors (hence why i stopped separating bursting and popping as to me, the end result and the methods of drawing them are so similar that i feel they should be treated the same as far as production). I imagine it as the more "toon friendly" version of type X and designed Morta (the Blood Elemental) to capture the lunacy of Dark Harvest and other invader zim moments. Unlike Zora, the elemental of celestial and the Type X Mutagen, she's more nonsensical body horror. Type X is modern resident evil blood and gore and Zora reflects that and the true fear that comes with it, while Morta and type H is more Sega genesis mortal kombat / invader zim vibes. the type of gal that'll show up with a hundred stolen organs and explode into a billion bones and skulls only to try to convince you that you totally can get twenty different skulls from a single person and that she's decently not stealing organs from others and replacing them with random objects. Based on function: I think Type G, P & M are superior based on functionality, especially since I've switched to animating in clip studio, with M being my preferred one to work on so far. Lastly, Types S & T are probably really easy to animate as they're easy to set up while drawing. • Type G for drawing even though it's harder to animate all the different shards. also, it captures that classic, cartoon pop aesthetic. • Type P for Ease of Animation, though it's more complex to set up the light layers and drawings. Also, blinding lights make for great transformation sequences, Ala sailor moon. • I feel Type M hits the sweet spot between both Type G & Type P. I imagine it functioning more like Orochimaru's regeneration abilities and have used petrifaction for snake characters regenerating and jumping out of their skin mid battle in personal works, often using their old skin as a substitution in battle or cover when caught. I'm defiantly excited to animate it. • Lastly, Type T and Type S are both fun and familiar to me, as type S doesn't require a lot of drawing nor animation and type T, while needing shrinking animations, it's no harder than expansion animation. Haven't tried so will be new experiences: • Type B: I want to try to capture the plasma ball effect in this one and while for belly expansion i think it'll be easy, it's designed for breast expansion though I'll have to be able to apply it to all forms. I imagine it may be a little tricky to animate but I like the concept a lot and think it's unique and cool. • Type C: while i think creating it will be cool, I want to focus on the visual sense of weight and water sloshing around (which is something i need to work on with all my animations and artwork) and I want to make it popping feel more like a bubble filled with honey bursting and not to much like type H. I'll have to play around with it to get what I'm looking for. • Type Y: I doubt anyone has ever played it but I'm drawing a lot of inspiration from the Legend of Legaia along with PS1 resident evil, and i always loved how the super bad guys would explode into polygons and fade away into dust. it's like a retro Thanos snap and I think it captures the fragmenting and decay through the passage of time that I'm trying to capture, how one is fading away to the void only to be replaced by the newer more advanced thing. Animation wise, i feel it'll be the most complex and I'm concerned about getting the whole space time concept across as well as the emptiness / void concept. but I'm excited for it. • Type K: this one is the one I'm most worried about, as it's more or less going to combine flattening with the effect of shrinking down to a single point, with the addition of black hole spaghettification. similar to void, the new form would appear from "nothing" but unlike void which I'm already thinking about what effects i could possibly use in Davinci studio to easily make the dust transformations work, Type K is more complex and i think I'll have to frame by frame draw most of it. however, i think it'll be one of the coolest transformation sequences of the new experiences and leaves room for some cool visual effects and abilities, as Dark Magic is more so connected to the mind (with light being connected to the spirit and blood being connected to the body.) and isn't by default treated as "evil" but rather, illusion and mental magic. did you witness them transform? did the host really experience the transformation as they think? what about the no cloning theory and the teleportation through the singularity? or was the host just baked out on the couch for way too long and needs to lay off the bud? I know "it was all a dream" sequences can kinda be lame, but like, i think they're super cool and since black holes provide a convent "reality has stop functioning as normal" excuse, i could use it for some really triply, vibe focused stuff. But this is just how a feel right now, and if i had to pick just one it'd be type ?, as when this was for game design, i was pumped to make different expansion focused forms with elemental abilities and skills, akin to Shantae transformations or mega-man abilities. of all the characters and expansions, Haleigh and type ? mutagen has had the most thought put into it, with a focus on the elemental abilities and how they'd interact with one another and how different expansions could make some abilities harder, while enhancing other skills. Tribal hunter comes to mind.
