I'd love to hear Neds take on music!
Jim: regarding the arps, i guess you could do that by using different scale plugins and automate the on/off

:-) So OK, you've got a funky thing going on in mixolydian, and you want to modulate to another key. I know how to do that with major and minor using the cycle of fifths, but not with other modes. And then there's the arpeggiators - how to switch from one key to another.... Ha, hope that doesn't spoil your beer. It would be great if changing key on the push could drive changes in things like the arppegiators, but, well I can dream.

Well, thats true, but everyone has their own take on it. Notes and chords is one thing, modes and progressions, voicing, intervals, key sigs, key changes, there's loads of fun stuff to talk about actually. I'm tempted by the idea. There'll be beer involved of course so it's kind of be doing what I'm doing. The Push could come into play here too, but I think a fret board or keyboard is best for this kind of thing.

There's plenty of theory out there already. I think you should just keep doing what your doing.

To do a theory video would be like doing an entire lecture on my view of the mechanics of music. I don't know if people are up for that.

It's such a broad topic I don't know if ever be satisfied with covering it all in on video. Unless it was an hour long.

Tyskie and bud. I'm seriously enthusiastic about a theory video.

Yes - definitely in the software. Also, I'd be interested in knowing exactly which beer you're drinking at any particular time.

I'd be well up for a music theory show, but my literacy is on the guitar, and I've no plans to film myself playing guitar. That would be dreadful. Imagine that. Everyone is tuning in for hardcore electronics and I'm there with my guitar going "this is mode 4". I guess there could be a away to do that in the software.

PS I've tried learning it elsewhere but think it would be far more interesting in the context of your experiments/commentaries

I know bugger all about music theory. Your confident sprinklings of 'it's a perfect 5th' make me curious. I reckon you could do some good teachin on that subject. Just a thought...
