Cornelius' Fantasma is up there with Go Plastic on my all time favs list as is Autechre's Peel Sessions 2... Panasonic, Oval, Vladislav Delay dropped great records around '00 and '01 as well as Damian O'neill(!!) of the Undertones whose "A Quiet Revolution" record just got slept on. This was around the time all the major labels were sweating "Electronica" so bad that someone tried to make Moby a rockstar (as well as Goldie, Alec Empire and ATR...) and amen breaks started appearing in chase scenes. All good things...

2022-02-03 04:24:30 +0000 UTCThis is a very nice story. I was a bit of a Rephlex records fan in the early 00s. Yee-king really personified the sound for me at the time. Glitchy, understated, a real improvised feel, very gentle music. Great stuff. People should make more of that.

Yee-king is a beast :) we were in a band together called Balzac where he played drums (he’s a nasty drummer) we’d get together and make tracks but tbh I just used to watch him on the tracker coz he was so fast. By the time I’d got a few drum sounds selected he’d have finished a whole track. Total badass!
