I need ideas.

Hello everyone. Bit stuck for ideas. Give me some. I can’t guarantee I’ll do them, but they all go in somewhere. I plan to shoot the sh-101 video and make a sample pack of it, but it’s going to take some time so need to put something out in the mean time. I thought about doing something like “what makes a perfect drum break?” But still open to suggestions. Cheers.

I would love some tutorials of Ryoji Ikeda glitch style or more IDM tutorials

I will love a tutorial of this, ryoji ikeda glitch style

A few people have mentioned transitions. I think I have my idea of what that involves, but I’d be happy to hear other ideas. I normally just reverse a crash cymbal.

Vocal effects could be fun with just a mic and some stock plugins.

Big ups by the Way!

I would love to see you do a video on Vocal effects processing/using vox as instruments (like Todd Edwards style) if you haven't already done something like that!

A 'Vital M4L' series - eg "D'Ya Feel Lucky Funk"? (Ableton Sync) , "Go with the Flow" (Jitter Feedback), "GPU? I Do" (GL / Shaders).

Something about performing different types of live sets would be good. Similar to the IDM sample pack series, but for different genres / techniques and more info on what can be done during the performance, not just the preparation for it. Specifically a way to perform recorded tracks with an element of improvisation, so they’re similar enough to the original to be recognisable, but also slightly different for each performance. Also, interesting ways to transition between tracks during a live set using Ableton.

I second the advanced Beat Repeat video, also the ryoji ikeda proposed by Nicholas. Also, a focus on melodies especially the IDM autechre flavor (kind of live gescom viral rival ae mix). some synthesis videos could be interesting, also finding a balance when using randomized midi notes generators, going deeper into music theory.

These are all good ideas. Cheers all.

Ryoji Ikeda style glitch weirdness with obligatory 'Drum Bus like an idiot' moment

I loved your EDM sample pack live set serries, maybe expand that to a acidjungle liveset+performance thing

Basic/mid/advanced videos focusing on Beat Repeat would be great. I've been learning it by watching what you do with it (and consulting the manual a bit 😁) but I still find It hard to get my head around the settings to understand what it's doing.

Any tips on sound synthesis for leads?

Baphometrix has been doing a “clip to zero” mixing series right now. I’d love to see some simple M4L devices that could replace some of the paid plugins. Stuff like a clipper with matched volume reduction, some kind of simple soft clipper, a “normalize” effect (looks to see peak and you can manually hit a button to bring it to 0dB) and a oscilloscope that can show multiple channels either as overlapped or summed. Those might be a bit more overhead than the plugins, but it’d be nice to have custom tools. Your visual effect videos are great and I figured some pretty simple custom audio effects would be a decent topic.

drum racks full of wavetable’s to make break beats and noise while using breakbeats and noise to generate the wavetables in said wavetables. + ned doing aleatoric chance randomness per usual time signature shifting across loops / instruments in a generative way using the “convert to” harmony, melody, drums stuff to get far away from initial idea

What makes a good drum fill? How to make a synth drum kit using Operator/Analogue in a rack? Tips for automating synth drums? Nice M4L devices for generating drum patterns, how to use comping to piece together some 4 bar sections? It’s all about the drums ;)

Fraser Brydson

I would love to see/hear your thoughts on 1. Tempo changes and mixing of time signature. 2. Different ways of transitioning between different parts of a track. 3. Techniques on how to make your tracks emotionally dynamic. Tension/release i suppose. 4. Ways you practice 5. Ways you start making a track 6. Where you draw inspiration from

The Fellow Passenger

If you haven't already done that.
