Midi Waves. New Max For Live device for testing.
Added 2022-07-12 10:30:47 +0000 UTC
Hello everyone. Please test this new Max For Live midi note LFO I have made. The range sliders set the range of the various midi messages. Everything else should be ready to automate and available on Push 2 on separate pages. Enjoy.

Thanks for all the feedback. I have to have this finished by august 2nd but already I want to add more features, like FM on each LFO. Thing is the panel is already crammed, so I thought it’d switch to tab based system, one tab for each LFO, a bit like the tabs on Sampler. Then I can add more UI elements.

2022-07-17 07:06:28 +0000 UTCThis is a wicked little MIDI instrument. I put it before my favourite piano sample and lost about an hour. A decent, logical layout - plenty of options for experimentation and randomisation. Looking forward to creating a custom template for it. It reminded me a little bit of Fugue Machine (this is a good thing). Totally it's own beast. Nice work!

2022-07-14 20:55:49 +0000 UTCI've been playing with this for 2 hours now and recorded several tracks. I have little to no idea what's happening but it sounds great. Steve Reich would be jealous but I'm just randomizing the crap out of anything that moves.

2022-07-14 01:04:31 +0000 UTCAnd further fiddling reveals that in "Mid Dark", that selector's background is still darker than the others, though the entries are visible so it is just cosmetic.

2022-07-13 21:29:52 +0000 UTCIt’s a valid point to take a look. I’ll try it on all the colour schemes and find something that works.

2022-07-13 21:29:11 +0000 UTCApparently my Ableton was in "Mid Light". If I change it to something more sensible, the problem goes away.

2022-07-13 21:27:55 +0000 UTCThanks Adam. I spotted a lot of the things you mentioned myself and they’ve been fixed. I’ll take a look at the colour scheme. I have Ableton on Dark.

2022-07-13 21:15:50 +0000 UTCIt is marvellous. Some observations from my testing with 11.1.6: For pitch, on Push there's no way to edit PitchRate In the device itself, the PitchRate selector has a dark background, so it's very hard to read the units (this is when the desktop is using a Dark theme - the similar selectors for the other components are fine) On Push, the Velocity component has two VelLFOSnap entries On Push, the GateSync component has a typo - shows "GAETSYNC"

2022-07-13 21:14:03 +0000 UTCWhat you can do is take an LFO plugin and map it to the number of gate steps. That allows you to create rhythmic variation but without it being random.

2022-07-12 16:45:05 +0000 UTCMuch obliged - these are all very nitpicking by the way. Loving exploring this. Wonderful idea and elegantly executed. Much appreciated!

2022-07-12 16:01:49 +0000 UTCI can add chromatic later. Microtuner works ok for me.

2022-07-12 15:59:51 +0000 UTCKind of - for some reason not properly. Would it then be possible to add 'chromatic' to the scales?
nicholas thayer
2022-07-12 15:56:32 +0000 UTCYou can just put Microtuner after it in the chain and see if that works.

2022-07-12 15:43:37 +0000 UTCOooh - and a way to integrate custom scales / Microtuner?

2022-07-12 15:36:38 +0000 UTCIf I have 7/16 gate steps with two muted would be interesting to randomise which steps are muted in order to create rhythmic variations? Or perhaps there is already a way to do this - just exploring now!

2022-07-12 15:35:34 +0000 UTCWhat does the random dial do?
Ned Rush
2022-07-12 15:33:38 +0000 UTCLots of fun! Perhaps a pulse / reset button could be handy? and a random dial on Gate LFO? Cheers Ned!

2022-07-12 14:04:34 +0000 UTCCombining an LFO with the number of gate steps allows you to create interesting rhythms too. Then add in a Chord with some LFO shifting, and a nice sounding Scale and you've got jazz piano.
