What shall I make my next video about?

Come on folks... I’m stuck for ideas. Gimme some juice. Cutting up amens or doing a video about how to sound like an artist I haven’t heard of type suggestions will be pushed down the list 😉 hope you’re all well. xx

A caribou style organicy type thing?

Steven Laidlaw

Good idea.

Ned Rush

make a jam using only white noise as source material

Royal Simpson

I saw this yesterday, worth a video maybe? https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p08x4b5z

Gordon Chapman-Fox

Arrangement topics, like how to create solid transitions between sections. Sorta abstract but some kinda prediction topic as far was where you think genres or sound design is heading?

I loved the album vlogs from way back. How do you write your music? How do you finish your music? I think a lot of people struggle with that and it's always interesting to see how other people deal with those challenges.

Alex Walker

excited by all these ideas. maybe an update on this previous tutorial (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9DvzUyURbXM) but for another genre: hip hop beats and or IDM-styled beats. thanks as always

dnb drum programming would be killer

Steven Clements

Breakbeat programming as well. Thank u

torka1

Cutting up amens definitely. And making a breakbeat techno would be great. Thanks

Some great ideas here. Thanks for your help. Glad we can work together on this.

I'd like to see a video on workflow practices for building Max for Live devices; it would be nice to learn more about your process. Failing that, you could do a video on cutting up artists you haven't heard of to the sound of the Amen break. This would be more fun, arguably, but might raise some legal concerns.

Len Reidy

Sorry - I was trying to impress you. I've heard you talking in some of your videos about sounds quickly changing the feeling of space, so like you're in a big cave then suddenly a small room. You used a term for it, which I tried to google, but couldn't find it - but I thought it broadly fell under psychoacoustics - which I understand to mean "making your brain think it's somewhere else". So it seems we're both uncool. Anyway, whatever that was you were talking about was really interesting, and I think that more on that would be ace.

Zander Grinfeld

I don’t know what that is. I’m so uncool.

Ned Rush

I love both of those plugins.

Ned Rush

Hey Ned. I'd like to see something on how to get the best out of glitchy plugins like Turnado, Illformed Glitch 2, etc....

Ben Garnett

Oh - and psychoacoustics would be good.

Zander Grinfeld

I really enjoy all your Ableton stuff but use Eurorack stuff a lot. I'd be interested to see what interesting stuff you can do with the Max4Live CV Tools pack. So like a best of Ned's tricks used to control eurorack kit - and/or Eurorack kit controlling Ned Ableton tricks. I just used the clock in module to make Ableton follow an LFO on Mutable Stages and it only worked. It even followed it when changed the LFO rate with CV. Had some MIDI devices then following Ableton and all manner of mayhem resulted.

I would like more deep diving into sound design and generative sounds coming straight from ableton, or even plugins that you like.

Zander Grinfeld

Would love to see more max, jitter and m4l stuff!

pandigital

I personally would dig exploration into the new 11 features but I’ve an interest in the more experimental aspect of it - ie drone, ambient, probability etc. Maybe as well taking MPE input and using it in unexpected ways - for example is there a way for a Max instrument to get different MPE aspects and apply elsewhere such as data for your video generative stuff?

Another glitchy octatrack tutorial
