Coming Soon! Generative Musical Instruments in Max For Live!
Added 2024-04-20 10:17:58 +0000 UTCHello everyone. Whilst taking a break and nursing a seasonal cold, I've been doing some research and exploring ideas for future videos, and so I've decided now is the time to starting building Generative Musical Instruments in Max For Live to run in Ableton. These will use good old fashioned analogue/digital signal processing ideas. Some I've lifted from the very useful Generating Sound and Organizing Time book about gen~ by Graham Wakefield and Gregory Taylor, and some will be Max versions of ideas I've tried over the years on my eurorack modular setup, and some are just the product of me messing about with Max.
These will be fully functioning self playing instruments, so we won't just look at ways to generate musical events, but also do synthesis so they make sound, bassline synths, leads, polysynths, drum machines and modular effects.
The idea being that during those moments where ideas are a bit vacant, you can just drop these into a Live set and maybe wait for them to offer you something that might fire off the motivation to make something else, or just listen to them wibble about making cutesy music.
I aim to start on this series next week so I'll see you then.
